Chaemono Posted March 20, 2017 Share #41 Posted March 20, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Notwithstanding the big hit with reduction of resolution from 24mp to 10mp, but appreciating the substantial reduction in size, does anyone have comments regarding the IQ comparison between the 2 lenses? The 35 summilux TL will result in an equivalent 50mm and I would love to shrink my walk around set to something more discreet. A few shots comparing the two in the first four sets in full resolution here https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-m8cbnV/ or smaller file sizes here https://www.smugmug.com/gallery/n-dVGCSZ/. Advertisement Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Hi Chaemono, Take a look here 50mm summilux SL vs 35mm summilux TL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
BCMielke Posted March 21, 2017 Share #42 Posted March 21, 2017 A lot depends on how large of prints you want to make and if you are a person who loves cropping. The 35TL will fit the bill if you just want to load to the web and not print about about a 13x19. I shoot with with 23TL quite often, but it's just family shots that only find there way to the web or 4x6 images around the house.
ropo54 Posted October 19, 2017 Share #43 Posted October 19, 2017 Has anyone else compared the output of the the 35 1.4 TL to the 50 1.4 SL?
CrisRose Posted July 5 Share #44 Posted July 5 Bumping this one up now we have new cameras and more options. I have a Leica CL and I'm considering picking up an SL 601 + 50 Lux SL. Or, do I just get a 35 Lux TL for my CL and be done? Both 24MP, both 50mm FOV. Wide open MTFs for the 50SL look far better tho and the DOF will be far more what I'm looking for, hence why I'm considering the cost and size. (Ps i used an SL 601 for 3 years, then downsized my setup due to baby costs)
TL3 Posted July 11 Share #45 Posted July 11 I love the 35 Lux TL on the CL, but if you are fine the the size and cost of the SL setup and want the better image quality and DOF, then by all means, go for the full SL camera and lens setup.
daan Posted July 13 Share #46 Posted July 13 (edited) I don’t have experience with the CL/TL, but I do with the Fuji X-Pro3 and X-T5 paired with 35mm lenses. Honestly, those are beautiful products that can absolutely produce stunning images. However, the SL 50mm Lux is truly in a league of its own for me, especially when compared to lenses on APS-C. And that’s coming from someone who’s a big fan of Fuji gear. I always choose the lux when shooting 50mm. Edited July 13 by daan
Markey Posted July 13 Share #47 Posted July 13 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) The 35 TL is one of my favourite lenses on my CL but I also use it on my SL2s too. I`ll prob pick up an SL3 and make use of the extra pixels because other than my 90 to 280 and 24 to 70 I have no intention of picking up any of the SL prime lenses.. IkarusJohn Posted July 19 Share #48 Posted July 19 Apart from the lenses having the same field of view, mounted on their respective cameras, I don’t think they are comparable at all. Size and weight aside, the 50 Summilux-SL on my SL(601) was in a league of its own compared to the 35 Summilux-TL on my TL2.
