Got my Q on Tuesday - first Leica after years of shooting Canon from 450D to 5D Mk 3.  Stunning image quality from it.  So pleased to have made the jump.  Thought I'd attempt at a bit of street photography for my first outing, which is new territory for me.

Siamese Twins Window showing Pikes Peak following a strong winter snow storm.

The prominent path up the mountain side is the famous Manitou Incline which is an old abandoned narrow gauge cog railroad bed. It gains over 2000 feet in less than a mile with some areas at 68% grade.

It's a favorite physical challenge for hikers and runners. The record time is 16:42 set in 2015. A more typical time is from 30 - 60 minutes depending on one's age and physical fitness.

In Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA

My apologies. I just realized that this particular photos was taken with my Canon 5D3 and 100 mm lens. I had the Q along and took many photos, but not this one.

This is a composite of two photos both taken with the Q at the same location. It's almost impossible even at f/16 to have both the rocks and the mountain both in focus. So, I put the two together in photoshop and I note that this is what the eye sees at the scene. I welcome comments as to if you think this is acceptable or not to the forum members. No deception intended.

First time I've used my Q in a few weeks. Been busy trying out my other buy (a Panasonic GX-8, which has some uncanny resemblances to the Q in certain respects. I wonder why?).

Still you can't beat the 1.7ness when you use it. This was actually the first time I've used the macro feature.

I don't really see this as deception.  What the camera sees in terms of depth of field is seldom what the eye sees.  At this resolution on the forum it's hard to tell that t's a composite but if you look carefully you can - see the circled area for instance?

That's interesting.  I what way?

Build quality of the GX8 is excellent, very tight seams, and reminiscent of the build quality of Leica. The battery compartment lock is almost identical. (The battery is identical, I use them interchangeably in the GX-8 and the Q). Incredibly fast and responsive AF. Side by side the Q and GX-8 put my A7R and A7S to shame in terms of focus speed. Of course the OIS on my lens and the Q lens are identical. I bought the Lumix 12-35 with the body and I find the output has the same look and feel of Leica glass - although the Q has a big edge in sharpness but I'd be bloody disappointed if that were not the case(!). Like the Q, I want to pick up my GX8 and shoot with it. I don't have anywhere near the same emotional connection to my Sony bodies <sigh>.

Thank you.  I must gave a look at one at a dealer next week though I'm not in the market to purchase anything!  I know what you mean about the Sony cameras.  I tried two with a friend a month or two ago and while I was amazed by the specifications, the actual cameras left me cold.  Strange.
