A nice picture.  A little sad though - it's the end of conversation and personal interaction.

Yes, Ju"rgen Habermas, a great scholar, argued that liberal western democracies were fueled by 18th C cafe societies, in which the bourgeoisie sat for hours, conversed, and debated. OTOH, modern social media has reconnected people in startling ways as families deracinate.

We'll, I persevered with the Leica Q application and with the help of this forum was successful using it to photograph Hummingbirds this morning. It is challenging on many fronts, but also A LOT of fun. The app has a 1.5 second delay from the time you push the shutter button until the shutter on the camera actually fires. I believe this is mainly because it's trying to focus even though I have the camera in manual focus. It still goes through a sequence where it appear to be seeking focus. That lag makes it more challenging for a fast moving bird such as these, but I took over 200 shots and got a few timed right. Also, the camera under remote control using the app seems to ignore the settings on the camera. I had the aperture on the camera set to f/8, but the app said f/16 and that's what it was using. Not sure I fully understand this yet, but it appears that the app overides any settings on the camera. Regardless, this is very fun and the app did work well overall with no significant drop outs. I did go to airplane mode eliminating any potential interruptions such as email, text, phone calls. I set it up using the Leica wifi network instead of my home network. Again, thanks to some solid help from other forum members who have made the app work successfully. Here are a few photos and a pic of the setup. I only used two flashes this time. One ring flash on the camera and one to illuminate the background.

Goodness, what can one say.  Amazing work.

incredible! I hope you do multiple postings on this website and others, to share your terrific work with as many as possible. Thanks so much!!

Thanks. I don’t generally. I figure most people go to the main image thread. At least most Q users. I might peruse the other forums and see if there’s a nature or bird thread.

I see now that there’s a bird thread under nature. I’ll post it there later. Good idea.
