yes, the compression produced bands in several of my photos...alas....

 

I think that to fit the restrictions on this forum it is better to reduce the size of the image and not compress it beyond 85% or so.

Thanks Vikas. That worked, even though it re-expanded on its own. This is in the mountains of western Norway last month.

Very nice views!  Is this from the Kvikne's Hotel (I Googled Balastrand)?  This looks like a lovely part of the world.

precisely! it would take many boring pages of text for me to describe both the joy and humor of staying there. But essentially, it's a one hotel town, situated on one of the most beautiful spots in the world. The hiking is fantastic, with spectacular vistas.
