So i decided to give it a try to shooting protests with the Q. I shot before in similar conditions with big chunky dslrs, but I dont have one anymore. So it was my Q, M and fuji x70 only. To be very honest, is not the easiest thing to do. The camera, is slow in such conditions compare to a DSLR, and buffer fills up quite fast leaving you with a brick for a few seconds. Also high iso is not what i call the best, actually is quite lacking compare to nikon and canon. But even so i still love my Q :) So yes the camera might not be designed to be used in such conditions, but it still was a fun experiment.

The following pictures were shot only with the Q :)

thats strange you found it NOT good, i must say i expected quite the opposite. ive shot many protests and ive always used my x100 and this feels like it would be better than my x100 in many ways.

and HOW high was your iso?

i dont think i ever even with my DSLR's go above 3200

Yep i do, and actually the Q is much fasther then the X100. Used to have an x100, and yes it could be use but with such many limitations it was kind of a burden in those situations. Wonderful camera for portraits, but anything moving was a matter of luck, and if light came down. Not really much to do.

Regarding  iso, never went over iso3200? not sure were are you shooting, yes during the day no need, but some situations happen on the night :)

iso25600 f2.0 1/100 not sure how you would shot that at iso3200 ;)

iso10000 f2.0 1/80 :)

yeah, NEVER above 3200

ever...

yes the x100's (i had 3 100,100s,100t) and they were always hit or miss with fast moving action it sucked i lost out on a bunch of photos in haiti due to "rolling shutter" it was awful

but also if i was in situations when i felt that was needed to use an ISO above 3200

i would just use my DSLR's

and with that my 35 is 1.4

and my 85 1.2

they both got the job done at 3200

anyway your photos at 10,000 are fuckin amazing... im beyond impressed at that..

Yep i got rid of my dslrs since its was only in very few occasions in which i need such speed and high iso, but when I need it i really do miss them :( Specially the nikons, i have a lot of more images shot at iso 10k to 25k, makes my Leicas want to cry, hehehe. But well i didn't got the leicas just because of the image quality, they are many other factors that the nikons didnt gave me :) this is at iso18K :)

great shots!

Pictures are very good in every respect: technically, documentary and artistically! I doubt you made them better with Nikon or Canon.

Matic

Really really good shots. If you feel the camera limited you and managed to produce these pictures you should be very proud.

Thanks for the comments!
