I like both of these. I think the shadow in the first sits really nicely in the shot as a whole. The little extra detail on the left edge of the second adds a lovely little touch of complimentary texture and colour.

Spring's not really got here yet, but the Q3 43 (had it for two days) needed a walk so out we went.  It's confirmed all I hoped for.  I love the field of view and delight in the close focus/semi-macro potential.  Lots still to discover, but thought I'd share first impressions.  For information, everything was shot at F2 and the 4th image is a 75 crop.  Totally useful for web, obviously, but more than enough resolution to print too.

Congrats on your new Leica Q3 43, Chris, and thanks for sharing.

I've been a regular visitor to the Q3 43 Image Thread (yes, the forum where you should have posted yours), and like you, I really appreciate the 43mm field of view. In fact, I’ve committed to making the Q3 43 my next camera.

However, with the recent launch of the OM System OM-3 earlier this month, I’m now leaning toward it instead—mainly because of its gorgeous design and lens versatility. I still have the Lumix 20mm f/1.7, Olympus 14-42mm EZ, and Leica DG 25mm f/1.4, all of which I think would pair well with the OM-3. The Lumix 20mm f/1.7, in particular, offers a field of view quite similar to the Q3 43, which makes it especially tempting.

Since you own the Q3 43, would you mind sharing your shooting experience with it? I’m especially curious about how the 43mm field of view feels in practice—does it ever feel limiting?

@Yoki I can't comment on the Olympus choice you might be making - but I can say that the 43 suits my style of working very well (I shoot mostly 35 on M) and it really doesn't feel constraining.  Also, I don't think any of the lenses you mention will beat the APO 43 - it really draws beautifuly and OOF is lovely.  Given that  APO lens + semi macro + real potential to crop (60 and 75 are super useful), it's a perfect all-rounder / travel for my purposes.  You need to try one out I guess.  It is a lump of money!

Thanks, Chris. You're right—the best way to choose is to try them out beforehand. Both cameras are quite expensive. Unfortunately, even months after its launch, the Leica Q3 43 is still unavailable for demo at my local camera store. These two brands (Leica and OM Systems) aren't very popular in Jakarta, so my best option is to test them out at camera stores abroad.
