I just visited my family in the fenlands of Lincolnshire, and what was once part of the Rhine Delta. In addition it's part of England that has extensive Dutch fingerprints all over it; with the draining of the fens in the 1700's, naming a county "New Holland" and the tulip festival in Spalding. Your pictures do a wonderful job of capturing what it feels like at the edges of the sea and the flatlands.

Thanks for your kind words. We have a lot of these areas in the north of The Netherlands. I am lucky I live near to them. When you enter such an area (specially with stormy overcast conditions) you can't help being grabbed by a feeling of loneliness and desolation. It looks like a different planet sometimes. The smell of the mud doesn't help either. 😀

Diary note, 01/07/2016:

Perhaps the last of the Hong Kong topless bars?
Well, maybe not topless, strictly speaking, as the girls wear tiny open blouses which they can button up quickly if the authorities come in.

They have a dark area at the rear of the bar which the girls call 'Jurassic Park'. A middle-aged Brit was kissing one of the girls there. Perhaps he was under the illusion that she enjoyed it. He'd bought her a drink so she acquiesced but her body language told another story.

Some of the other girls rolled their eyes and grimaced in disgust. "We like customers to show us some respect", one said, "and not think that they can touch us all over just because they've bought us a drink".

I might add that I lived in Amsterdam for a few years and would go up to Lauwersmeer Park from time to time.

It’s Halloween tonight in the US and that ghost in your image is scary. 😩
