Not bad for a camera that's been out less than a year!

Well done Peeps!  :D

I did enquire on this page once before whether we should be contributing our work to the photographic interest areas of the site. I didn't get an answer but I actually think it is time we did so.

The Q sensor has an amazing dynamic range. I shot this at -2EV to try and capture the circular outline of the sun burning a hole through the overcast. When I bought up the shadow areas in LR I was surprised at how little noise there was. I also processed it through Nik ColorEffex4 and again even after that the noise was minimal.

It's well known among serious birding photographers that big, white telephoto lenses (like Canon 500 mm f/4 or 600 mm f/4) may scare birds away. So, I figure the Q is the perfect stealth birding camera. No bird in his or her right mind would be afraid of this little guy, However, they are underestimating the power of the Q as demonstrated by some errant American Wild Turkeys that ventured into my yard this afternoon. No, I did not lure or feed them although they have been known to eat the leftovers from our bird feeders. The image quality and the lens / sensor on the Q is just stunning and a delight every time I look at the results.

Collected my Q from Clifton Cameras in Dursley yesterday afternoon.  Plan to be out and about this morning thwarted by gale force winds and driving heavy rain :(  So, let's put the macro function to test then!  The one below is also a test of relatively high ISO (6400).  .DNG processed in LR CC with minimal tweaks.  Quite pleasing.

Two more from my macro-mode weather induced tests this morning.  Both .dng's with minimal pp in LR CC.  I even abandoned my knitting for the tests...  ;)
