Neko Posted February 4, 2017 Share #1 Posted February 4, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) I really would like a top quality 100 APO m mount macro lens. Of course 1:1 magnification and no diffraction at small apertures. Collapsible would be the cherry on the top. I know the 90 macro is no slouch, but I´m thinking about a more specialized lens. Your thoughts please.
Advertisement Posted February 4, 2017 Posted February 4, 2017 Hi Neko, Take a look here Who would be interested in a m macro APO lens ( 1:1 magnification)?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lct Posted February 4, 2017 Share #2 Posted February 4, 2017 Such an M lens has never been made if memory serves. The R 100/2.8 apo (specs attached) should work fine in LV/EVF mode on M240 and M10 cameras. I have no experience with it though. Mine is the R 60/2.8. otho Posted February 4, 2017 Share #3 Posted February 4, 2017 I also definitely will buy that lens if Leica produce it. Even 75mm f/3.5 Macro will be great option in M system for that purpose. Maybe even something non-APO, like Macro-Elmar-R 100mm f/4 1:4 (1978-1995), but with 1:1 macro posibilities?
fotomas Posted February 4, 2017 Share #4 Posted February 4, 2017 That would be nice, now since we have LiveView. Made a test with the 90 Macro and all the stuff I have for close up work. This picture was taken with the 4.0/90 mm macro (analogue version) with the old close-up adapter, the new macro adapter and a set of novoflex extension tubes. The result must be somewhere between 1:1 and 2:1 magnification. Welcome, dear visitor! Found the results with my old Canon FD 4.0/100 mm sharper. And this easily gets to 1:1 with it's extension tube. Also it might be the cheaper solution, even with an adapter. But not as nice as a special M lens of course. Paul J Posted February 4, 2017 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2017 It's never going to happen with a rangefinder because of parallax. You can use an EVF but it's just as easy to do it with a dSLR. Maybe if and when the M is more EVF centric then it may happen.

Maybe if and when the M is more EVF centric then it may happen. I also think it will never happen. If such a lens used the optical viewfinder and the RF, then parallax would kill the usability up close. If it relied on the EVF, then just get an adapter for any number of beautiful macro lenses. luigi bertolotti Posted February 5, 2017 Share #7 Posted February 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) They won't do it as a M lens... a "specialized" would be for SL... the Macro 90 is a very reasonable proposal for M.
Neko Posted February 9, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted February 9, 2017 Thanks a lot folks for your thoughts. Yeah, maybe the more realistic option should be to get an APO macro elmarit 100 and use it in LV or EVF on my M10.
rpittal Posted February 9, 2017 Share #9 Posted February 9, 2017 I have the APO Macro Elmarit R with the Elpro supplemental lens, although I mostly use it without the supplemental lens. It is a great (and reasonably priced) lens and is on top of my largish pile of macro lenses (Zeiss 100 and 50 macros, Nikon 75-180, 105 and 200, Canon 100, etc.). It is pretty large though! The following are two pics I took using my MP240 with EVF (necessary) at Old Car City last year. Regards, Bob Welcome, dear visitor!
