dkCambridgeshire Posted June 17, 2007 Share #1  Posted June 17, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Here is another fairly recent acquisition ... Leica 1 Model C with interchangeable standard mount. The 5cm Elmar lens shown with it is not contemporary with the camera. These cameras are fairly scarce as had a short production run in 1931/2 of just 7231 ... but can be bought for reasonable prices. I like the "bare bones" design and it is very pocketable ... and usable        Dunk

dkCambridgeshire Posted June 29, 2007 Author Share #3  Posted June 29, 2007 If anyone is seeking one of these models there is one for sale with a nickel Elmar here  MW Classic Cameras  new in today (Friday 29th June) and seems to be a very fair price if working ... vendor normally states if cameras offered are working but has not in this instance ... so better ask if interested ... normally someone available there on Saturday mornings ...  It is a scarce camera.  Dunk
luigi bertolotti Posted June 29, 2007 Share #4 Â Posted June 29, 2007 Yeah, old Standards are really nice...and your item seems to be in very good conditions ! How is the shutter ? Personally, I prefer the "rangefinder" models, but I think that someday I'll also decide to find a "barebone" ... I like chromes...so I'm thinking of some model E, or even a Ic...; and a dream of mine would be a non standard with a pair of matching lenses... L39UK Posted July 17, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted July 17, 2007 When purchasing a Leica 1 Model C it is necessary to consult the Hahne List to find out if it is an original since many Leica 1A's (fixed lens) were converted to Leica 1 Model C's(interchangeable lens). This was an official Leica upgrade conversion which was offered in the early 1930's. If you are interested in obtaining a scarce original, and not a conversion, consulting the Hahne List is essential. Many reputable dealers will specify whether the camera serial number appears as an original Leica Model C on this list. hektor Posted July 19, 2007 Share #10  Posted July 19, 2007 When purchasing a Leica 1 Model C it is necessary to consult the Hahne List .  Dear William,  I have numerous lists of camera bodies, however do not know of the Hahne List.  Where can it be found?  Sincerely,  Justin  PS Sure it is not the "Hähne List" (joke)
L39UK Posted July 19, 2007 Share #11 Â Posted July 19, 2007 Hello Justin, The Hahne List was a Leica Historica Of Germany (similar to the American LHSA) publication listing all Leica Screw Cameras from the beginning of screw Leica production in the 1920's to the last screw Leica in the 1960's by model with serial numbers and production dates and various other details. It goes into the breakdown of serial numbers and camera types, year of manufacture, etc, into much more detail than the lists of camera production in the various Leica publications eg."Leica - The first 50/70 years".You are able to check if a camera is in original state as when originally made. Unfortunately the publication is long out-of-print but is sometimes obtainable from specialist bookshops- secondhand and some Leica dealers sometimes come across a copy and offer it for sale.Any Main Leica Dealer should have a reference copy at hand that you might be able to view. Kindest regards, William
hektor Posted July 20, 2007 Share #12 Â Posted July 20, 2007 The Hahne List was a Leica Historica of Germany publication . . Thank-you William, Â In fact I have it, but did not know it was referred to as "the Hahne List". Â Kind regards, Â Justin . .
