pico Posted May 31, 2017 Share #241 Posted May 31, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Not sure if there's a dedicated utility that does that, John. But if you're on a Mac or Linux-based system the SD card will mount like any other filesystem. You can then use Terminal (Mac), the shell (Linux), a hex editor, or octal dump to examine it. I don't think that will work because hexdump is file oriented. The structure of an SD card device is not available.
Advertisement Posted May 31, 2017 Posted May 31, 2017 Hi pico, Take a look here SD Card compatibility issue?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Al_OOF Posted May 31, 2017 Share #242 Posted May 31, 2017 I also received the invitation. Since I was (fairly) critical I think it's right that now I try to help Leica (for what I can) in his attempt to solve the problem. If my assortment of cards can go well... CJJon Posted June 1, 2017 Share #243 Posted June 1, 2017 Exciting to see Leica reach out to users to try an solve this issue. Kudos! Kudos to the beta testers too! Please keep us posted as much as you can.
Printmaker Posted June 1, 2017 Share #244 Posted June 1, 2017 Not sure if this has been reported as I don't have the time to read through 13 pages or responses but my Transcend 32 GB 300X cards seem to work for a few shots after formatting in camera then become unreadable. My old SanDisk 16GB 30X work fine though.
Printmaker Posted June 1, 2017 Share #245 Posted June 1, 2017 This card was later able to work with a fresh format from sdformatter. Seems like the problem is inconsistent. I've reformatted my Transcend card several times in camera only to pick up the camera a day later to find the card is no longer readable. Too bad as I have about 10 of these cards. wlaidlaw Posted June 1, 2017 Share #247 Posted June 1, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Transcend cards are the ones that give me the fastest start up on the M240. Back in the early days of the M240 someone did a comparison and found the Transcend were the quickest. Conveniently, Amazon were doing a special offer on the 16 and 32 GB cards at the time so I bought two of each. I suspect until such time as Leica sort out the FW on the M10, any cards may give rise to anomalous results.
ivancook Posted June 4, 2017 Share #248 Posted June 4, 2017 Overall, LOVE the M10 but have been having some issues with Lexar Professional 633x 128GB SDXC UHS-I/U1 cards. I have 2 and both seem to cause problems. Card will work and then stop being recognized. Usually turning the camera off and back on will fix, but today the bottom red light came on and stayed lit until I removed the battery. No images lost, but annoying nonetheless. My SanDisk 64GB has worked with no issues at all. For those of you testing the new firmware, seem promising?
jaapv Posted June 4, 2017 Share #249 Posted June 4, 2017 The beta testers will be unable to answer questions about the new firmware once the testing starts as they will have signed an NDA.
carcam Posted June 10, 2017 Share #250 Posted June 10, 2017 Oh man, while waiting for my new M10, I'm trying to figure out which lenses to get. Now I need to figure out which SD memory cards to get too... Maybe I can find a bunch of old Panasonic Gold 2 GB cards real cheap on eBay and fill up my pocket with them. robert blu Posted June 10, 2017 Share #251 Posted June 10, 2017 I'm back from a short holiday during which I shot with the M10. My shooting style is very like in the old film days (which is why I bought this camera, to use it in the most possible similar way I use the M7 or other film cameras) which means single shots, rarely chimping only in difficult light situation, almost no revue in camera (does this means I'm a candidate for an MD version? ) no deletion of files from the camera. I used a Sandisk Extreme Pro 95 MB/s 32 GB bought new and formatted in camera. I shot a little more than 300 frames in DNG+ jpg monochrome (I like to see when downloaded an approximative B&W version) which means around 600 files in the card. Crossing fingers until now no problem, i have other cards but I'll keep using this one to see how it will work in future. robert
apertur Posted June 10, 2017 Share #252 Posted June 10, 2017 Super frustrated. Tried San Disk, Lexar, extreme and ultra or x1000 etc. camera gets stuck, jpg missing, happens at my birthday and when my mom turned 90. Bummer. I was hesitant to move from 240 to M10 as I thought that I don't want to run into 6-12 months issue phase until Leica fixes it but then got the M 10 and liked it so much as a camera - except of being not reliable. Pls let me know whether there is Macarena that really works.
leertheking Posted June 10, 2017 Share #253 Posted June 10, 2017 Received my m10 last night, super excited! Fully charged battery loaded with SD card, after 10 shots, something happened: sd card not readable. Turn off camera, and then back on still the same. Unload the battery and reload, then LCD screen got frozen even you turn off the power button, still on, the ghost took over my brand now m10. What hell is going on???? elmars Posted June 10, 2017 Share #254 Posted June 10, 2017 Try to make a picture. Somtimes this helps the camera to recognize the card. If not: Try a new card from another brand.
pico Posted June 10, 2017 Share #255 Posted June 10, 2017 It could be many things. Can you read the card in your PC? Can you rescue the images via rescue software? If the images are inaccessible in rescue, can you format the card using SD Formatter? What's the brand? Have you been able to determine if the card is a counterfeit? I don't know if the M10 can do this, but the M9 can take a few pictures with the bottom plate open without an SD card. Remove the plate, remove the SD card. manually depress or trick the bottom detector. If it will not make a picture, then it is the camera. Can someone test this trick for us? leertheking Posted June 10, 2017 Share #257 Posted June 10, 2017 What SD card did you use? Did you pull it from another camera? Did you reformat it?Lexar 32 gb, yes I pulled it from my Nikon camera and reformatted in m10 camera. Another weird thing is, sometimes it wiped out all photos in card, only shown the file name, but not viewable in camera, and shutter won't fire. pico Posted June 10, 2017 Share #258 Posted June 10, 2017 See my post. Start from top, work down. It is important to do some work on this. ... or shortcut to start clean - try another card formatted by SD Formatter and come back to us.
jaapv Posted June 11, 2017 Share #259 Posted June 11, 2017 Or simply buy a new card, as long as the update is not out get a 16 GB.
Tailwagger Posted June 20, 2017 Share #260 Posted June 20, 2017 I ran into an interesting situation that I thought I would report. I've been running a set of Sandisk Extreme 32GB 95 mbps cards in the 240 for quite a while. When I got the M, I used one of them in that camera. Put in the M10, ran the format utility, everything worked perfectly, no issues. Along with a backup battery, I decided to get another card, this time the 64GB version, same spec otherwise. Loaded the card, again straight to the format utility. This time, however, it took what seemed like to be an excessively long time to complete, nearly a minute. Once complete, I then tried to shoot a test shot, but the camera refused and issued an error message stating that the memory card was full. I tried reformatting several times, each time with the same result. Okay, thinks me, perhaps I've gotten a defective card. Lets check. So plugged the card into my my mac, opened finder, copied a raw file over, edited it PS straight off the card. All operations worked as expected, so the card seems good. Ejected the card, put it back in the M, tried reformatting it one last time. This time the format seemed to complete far more quickly. Tried a test shot, no message, card now seems good to go. Figured I'd mention it as it seems as though there may be some bug in the format utility with brand new cards.
