How to upload images: Prepare the image as follows: 1.   The image should be sRGB and 8-bits 2.   Reduce the size to 2048 pixels on the longest side. (smaller sizes can be set, but are not recommended) 3.   Sharpen properly for screen. 4.   Save as JPG to your desktop, reducing JPG quality to produce 2000 kB (5000 kB for sponsoring members). 5.   In Lightroom these parameters should be set in the Export dialog. 6.   In the Forum posting or editing box, click “choose Fil

Not often that I shoot with the DR Summicron at f/2.0. I'm using a high-contrast B&W version of this image in my new book project, about which I've written in this LUF post.

A bit of an experiment this morning, not used the photos app before but as I have a Thrush nest right outside my kitchen window, I stuck the camera on the tripod, focussed on the nest and waited for the mum to come in and feed. Pretty much the worst conditions, into the sun, lens flair and the nest in shade but this is nice enough. I am clearly not a wildlife photographer!

I agree it is lovely to see Boojay, never known a thrush to nest so out in the open before. Being a big softy, I have avoided going out onto the balcony for the last 2 weeks as she built the nest and laid the eggs, only risking a couple of shots whilst she feeds so as not to disturb them too much. Another, you can see how close to the house she is.
