Dirk Mandeville Posted April 5, 2017 Share #841 Posted April 5, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Seems like all the people complaining about lack of video in the M10 would be snapping up these discounted M240's. Since they are convinced they will never see video in an M again, this is their chance to snatch up the last M with video. This alone should account for at least a dozen or so M240 sales for Leica.

NDOC Posted April 5, 2017 Share #843 Posted April 5, 2017 Yes, discounting the price of the unsold older stock is sensible but that is not the same thing as putting "more effort into moving the 240 than the M10 for a little while". I predict the M10 will continue to slowly trickle out of Wetzlar until the end of June and soon after become more widely available.

stephen tidik Posted April 6, 2017 Share #847 Posted April 6, 2017 (edited) Advertisement (gone after registration) Received my black M10 and black half case on March 30. Spare battery is now on its way, EVF is still back ordered. I ordered my camera from Leica store Miami on launch day via their website at approximately 10 PM. I was on their pre-order list since May, and bought my M9 and M240 from them as well. It's a great camera! I hope everyone who has ordered one will have their cameras soon . Torsten_M Posted April 6, 2017 Share #848 Posted April 6, 2017 I would buy an M240 instead an M10. I just would ask for a sensible price like 2000 Euro. I bought an M8 in 2010 brand new for 1800 Euro from Leica and I bought another M9 this year from Leica. It is just a matter of price.

NDOC Posted April 6, 2017 Share #851 Posted April 6, 2017 I just received email #3 from Adorama saying that my black M10, which I pre-ordered on Jan. 19, is still on backorder.
lawgeeo Posted April 7, 2017 Share #852 Posted April 7, 2017 I have received my black m10 two weeks ago from BH. The wait time was about 2.5 months. It wasn't that bad compare to my 4 months wait for M8 & M9 delivery. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
digitalfx Posted April 7, 2017 Share #853 Posted April 7, 2017 I predict the M10 will continue to slowly trickle out of Wetzlar until the end of June and soon after become more widely available. Of course by the end of June the M10 will be more widely available...its how it works. The first 6 months they cant keep up with demand, as that demand eases, so does supply. Leica is a very small company, and the cameras are assembled by hand. If you seriously believe they are withholding cameras to sell a older inventory then you don't understand the basics of business. Especially a small company that caters to a niche market like Leica.
digitalfx Posted April 7, 2017 Share #854 Posted April 7, 2017 I just received email #3 from Adorama saying that my black M10, which I pre-ordered on Jan. 19, is still on backorder. its an automated reply sent out every month on every backorders. Try a real Leica dealer, you will have much better experience. You can also try calling smaller dealers, you might be surprised how easy it is to find one in stock.

I still say that for the next month or so, selling off back stock of 240 bodies is a more pressing issue for Leica than pushing the M10. High demand for the M10 is already a reality. But the 240 is moribund from a sales standpoint and Leica needs to get rid of them.
roverover Posted April 7, 2017 Share #860 Posted April 7, 2017 (edited) I still say that for the next month or so, selling off back stock of 240 bodies is a more pressing issue for Leica than pushing the M10. High demand for the M10 is already a reality. But the 240 is moribund from a sales standpoint and Leica needs to get rid of them. I can't say that i understand the complex inner workings of Leica, but i don't see how the in-house, hand-construction of any model camera's currently being made could possibly be interrupted or intentionally delayed because the company is also working to sell stock or back-stock of already constructed merchandise. I don't see these 2 separate company functions as having a cause and effect on each other nor does it seem likely this is a "master-minded" sales ploy. I would imagine the assemblers are hard at work everyday producing as much as possible and not involved or concerned with what the sales dept. might be doing or discounting. Leica needs to make many M10's to fill the obvious world-wide demands. The M240 has NOT been discontinued either, so the term "GET RID OF THEM" doesn't seem very appropriate to me either. In my opinion, this theory doesn't seem even remotely possible or logical. Edited April 7, 2017 by roverover
