As the original poster, I'd like to mark the 1,000th post in this thread and in particular thank everyone who has very kindly made the time and effort to post their pictures and also to thank those who have viewed the thread (48,270 at the time of writing).

The thread has gone far beyond what I'd expected (hoped?) when I started it and has shown me and taught me so much about what older lenses can do and the real value that is stored in them. In particular I think that the thread clearly demonstrates the different look that different lenses can offer and that experimentation with all sorts of lenses can produce wonderful results.

Please don't stop posting because amongst its many pages this thread contains an invaluable resource for current and future use. For example, I often look back through its pages for examples from certain lenses when G.A.S. strikes and whispers in my ear that I should acquire this or that lens.

Once again thank you to everyone who has contributed!:)

Pete.

I am mostly reading (and thanking) posters on this very informative forum. This is by far my favorite thread and I hope to someday find one of these great lenses, but I have to study more on effect and compatibility with the M mounts.

The real reason for my post is to encourage the contributors in this thread to consider making some collaborative eBook that perhaps gets updated periodically. It might even be a potential sale item from the site. Please forgive me if this has been discussed before, but I am mostly entranced by the amazing contributions here :)

Very very good one jmanivelle! Apart from the fact that this less respected lens does surprisingly well on the M8, it is an absolute decisive moment of the child, which should not distract from the wonderful background scene with the people with the parasols etc.

Less respected? Are you kidding? The Super Angulon is a LEGEND!

Probably do bean counters and hairsplitters despise it's light fall off, sharpness off centre at full aperture and non compatibility with meter cells in Leica's newer bodies, but people who love photography couldn't think different from feeling pure love for the look, this lens produces in good hands.

It is one of the lenses, most hobby photographers don't bother with, as they would have to jump the hoops of learning to expose with their brains or use a light meter ;)

It's sad, we don't see more shots with the SA.

Jean-Marc, the shot of the girl at the beach is marvellous in all respects!

I could have expected a reaction like that. I did not express a personal opinion about the lens, I do not know it, but how I see that this lens is known and reviewed. Your opinion about the lens is fine with me, I have heard other stories: on film to be precise.

Hey Otto, I may have come over a bit harsh - sorry for that ;-)

Don't trust internet reviews, especially concerning as exotic things as a SA.

The margins where this lens shines are slim and it takes a lot of effort and dedication to learn how to make it shine.

I am still on my long journey of finding my dream 21/3.4 SA.

Here is 50/1.4 E46 pre ASPH BP on the M8.2:
