Chicago, 1978

M3ds/50 Summicron Typ 2 (This image and the previous four were shot with my earliest M gear, none of which I still have. I'd love to see how those lenses would perform on my current digital bodies. Alas.....)

A walk in the Scanian winter forest with my M-P and M42 1,7/55 Auto Chinon, not the sharpest lens in the world, but sometimes nice to play around with.

Impressive!
By night, Obviously close down, with enough speed to freeze the car. May i ask which film did you use? or if you're a Magician in the lab?  :)

Mannequins, Downtown Chicago, 1982.

Definitely not a magician in the lab. I had to work on this image for about 45 minutes after scanning to make it presentable. My scanner software can't remove dust and scratches from b&w images without shattering the images, so I have to do it all with the clone and spot healing brushes. Following that I used a slight noise reduction by Topaz Labs.

First, I discovered that I have the year wrong. Looking at the file page, there is a very faded date of Aug 1982. This was shot on film that produced wonderful results if handled VERY carefully, but it scratched extremely easily and had a static charge that seemed to suck every nearby particle out of the air into the surface. It was the Ilford Chromgenic XP1, introduced in 1980. Since you asked about it, I'm going to post the original scan for comparison. Pixel peep and you'll see what I mean. Ilford XP2 wasn't much better in this regard so I stuck primarily to Tri-X.

I like the original dusty grainy scan which preserved a nostalgic vibe.
