bideford Posted February 28, 2013 Share #902 Posted February 28, 2013 (edited) First shots with a new (to me) 1950 Elmar 50mm f/3.5 on M8.2. Optics seem clear but the front ring is bent - although the lens itself would appear to be unaffected. Might try to bend it back out if I get brave (or foolhardy!). Collapsible but probably not advised to try doing it on the M8.2. Tiny lens. James Edited February 28, 2013 by bideford

Supporting few photos using Hector 7.3cm f1.9 + M9p ~~~ Jeffo, I am just catching up on this thread. #2 is one of those Aya ya ya ya for me. Killer shot!!! I might have to dust off mine to try it again. Never thought the Hector 7.3 can be so nice in color.

I don't usually crop my photo. But S5 does cover FF but with slight dark corner.
JeffoJeffo Posted March 1, 2013 Share #908 Posted March 1, 2013 JeffoJeffo, how did you find the speed compare to the Hugo Meyer Kino Plasmat? According to details we know. These 2 should have same design. But I do find it a bit different. Speed is more easy to handle than KP.

I have yet to see this on any other 50. 3.5 summaron does the same.
awslee Posted March 2, 2013 Share #912 Posted March 2, 2013 Greatly inspired by JeffoJeffo's post, I decide to dust of my Zunow today and took it out for a spin. awslee Posted March 2, 2013 Share #913 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) Sitting down for a rest (@f1.1), the interesting about this is that the lights in OOF area is shaped quite round, I'd expect it to be more of a cat eye shape, which is quite typical of older fast lens and give you the oil painting (or swirly effect depending on the lighting and the texture of the background) effect when shot wide open. awslee Posted March 2, 2013 Share #914 Posted March 2, 2013 (edited) This is a Dallmeyer Television 2" 1.9, I was told this lens is exactly the same as the Super-six copy. I have both, other than Super-Six is a little warmer, I find them renders very similarly. This copy actually have some haze, but I am still quite happy with the results The cat eye shaped OOF area makes the background kinda like an oil painting (stoke by stoke) All shot wide open at f1.9 First sign of spring by Higgs Singlet, on Flickr Scooter by Higgs Singlet, on Flickr Edited March 2, 2013 by awslee
bideford Posted March 2, 2013 Share #915 Posted March 2, 2013 What never ceases to amaze me is the great depth of field this lens has and yet it is sharp through the range. I have yet to see this on any other 50. 3.5 summaron does the same. I am looking forward to see how it performs in an urban environment. What fascinates me is that when I was looking to buy an M8, lens discussions centered mainly around new (or late model used) Leica/Zeiss/Voigtlander/Jupiter lenses - in that order of preference for quality (and cost). Whilst I have a mixture of all three (and there are some excellent CV's, as Reid et al would testify) I never thought I would enjoy using old glass so much. My search continues.
