Good morning everybody,

Here another picture of mine friend Bruno; this time on Ilford HP5+. These were my very first shoots on film (I used to shoot polaroids) and I was very surprised by the different look one can get by simply changing the roll used. Nice!

Hi, would you tell us the camera and lens you used please? 🙂

Pete.

Oh sorry Pete, I forgot to write it down. Unfortunately I cannot edit the previous message anymore, but the shot was taken with a Leica M3, mounting an old Summarit 1.5 50mm.

All the best,

Nicola

very nice composition, quietglow. I love the corresponding curves--and the vignetting of the Summaron adds to the picture. Do you happen to remember the aperture you used ?

Thank you! That was shot at f/4, where the Summaron (or at least mine) has a bit of remaining vignetting. I also am a vignetting fan, so I probably dialed in a bit more in Lightroom.

Very nice print! Can I seize the occasion to ask you whether a very good scanner is needed for this? I'm undecided on whether getting a dedicated scanner for 35mm and then scanning the prints (I'm about to start my darkroom) with the relatively cheap flatbed scanner I have already, or rather getting a good flatbed scanner for digitalising both the negatives and the prints...

Thank you. This is a scan of the negative. I use a Plustek OpticFilm 8200i. Flatbed scaners are good for medium format and prints but from what I'm seeing the best for 35mm is "scanning" with a digital camera. I would suggest you take a look in the Film subforum for info and questions about scanning, there is plenty of good info there.

I think the cheap flatbed is probably good enough for the prints. You just need to decide which way to go for the negatives.

I had similar doubts after setting up my darkroom:

Thanks to both of you. I'll definitely read your thread, Aryel.

I apologise for the OT. Here another picture taken with the Summarit 1.5 50 (here at f.8) on Ilford HP5+. The depicted building is the City Hall of Leuven, Belgium.
