jmahto Posted February 23, 2016 Share #2696 Posted February 23, 2016 I really like the picture, but did you really took it in 1993 using a M9? Rgds Christoph I just now read your question. Yes, I did use M9 and 135 tele-elmar for this. I also had Canon 40D and 200 and 400 mm lens which I expected to be more useful but I was surprised. Manual focusing using Canon was an issue and at longer focal length, the celestial objects move rapidly across the view, making longer exposure blurry without a tracking mount. M9 worked great because there was no problem in focusing for infinity and wider angle of 135 (compared to 200 and 400), allowed longer exposure of 4sec and gave much more context in the picture. I was pleasantly surprised.
Bill Livingston Posted February 23, 2016 Share #2697 Posted February 23, 2016 I think what was meant is that the picture was taken in 1993 and the M9 wasn't released until 2009...
james.liam Posted February 23, 2016 Share #2698 Posted February 23, 2016 I think what was meant is that the picture was taken in 1993 and the M9 wasn't released until 2009... ...and the comet Panstarrs mentioned by the author, wasn't discovered until 2011.
Bill Livingston Posted February 23, 2016 Share #2699 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) So there are two errors in JMato's post headline then. Not too shabby out of three words and a number...! (Could it be that he meant 2013 and not 1993... ) Edited February 23, 2016 by Bill Livingston
jmahto Posted February 23, 2016 Share #2700 Posted February 23, 2016 (edited) I think what was meant is that the picture was taken in 1993 and the M9 wasn't released until 2009... OH... I missed that. Yes... my special edition m9 came with time machine. Seriously, the picture was taken in March 12, 2013. I had stripped the EXIF in export but the file name contains the date stamp. Where did he get 1993 !!! EDIT: I get it. It was my dumbass comment above the picture. Isn't it !! I meant to write 2013. Apologies.
