This is such a lovely thread, thanks everybody for sharing your photos!

I'm interested in how the older Leica lenses (so not the newest close-focus models, but the ones before that) look on the M11 bodies specifically - so searched this thread for "M11" (which brought up a lot, but not so much in regards to the Leica lenses I'm interested in, but more shots with all kinds of lenses) -
would somebody be able to point me in the direction of a more fitting thread?

I also see the "Perfect old lens for the M11" thread, it has just started though, so not much in there yet..

On a sidenote - do any of you (that is shooting old lenses on the modern hi-res sensors) print their photos?
Looking through this thread it feels like it's often a quite distinct "look" - the character of the old glass, combined with the modern, high resolution I mean - something I haven't seen five years ago.. it looks great, and quite unique I'd say - and I was wondering how that translates to actual prints on paper..
Would appreciate any feedback on this.

Thanks!

What a beautiful picture ! (I've just found it.)

I own a coated 1947 version of this lens and I've always loved to use it on my Contax RFs - but I wasn't aware of its capabilities to produce such an effect. (But I almost suppose that this picture has been taken with an uncoated lens? I noticed similar effects on some pictures I had taken with my uncoated 1937 Sonnar 50 f/2.)

Welcome to the thread T I N O and I'm glad you enjoy it!

This is predominantly a picture thread so to minimise distractions caused by off-shoot discussions we also include a picture taken through older glass (please refer to the opening thread for what that means) when posting a question or answer.  For more complex discussions I ask members to very kindly start a separate thread, for which you're welcome to include a link here.  This 'M lenses' subforum or the 'Leica Collectors and Historica' subforum are handy places for such threads because they will attract the attention of forum members who are usually happy to help.

Welcome to the thread, LeicaIIIfContaxIIa, and please note my post to T I N O above.

The lens I used bears the red T so it is coated.

A couple of boring kitchen test shots with a converted (from Exakta) 1962 Meyer-Optik Görlitz Domiron 50/2. Both wide open. First on the M11M at RF MFD and second on the M11 at actual MFD (about 25-30 cm) using the EVF. I'll post more later.
