If you like a certain high-contrast, gritty Japanese photographic aesthetic produced by a GR loaded with Tri-X, you are going to want this lens on your Leica...

I would think that Tri-X would be well-matched to such a lens, Ecar. 🤔

Pete, do you enter any lens code when you use your Konica Dual 21/35 with your SL?

I don't remember entering lens codes although I might have chosen the Leica 21/2.8 Elmarit from the SL's M-lens list.

Pete.

Pete, Thank you very much. I really like the Konica Dual 21/35 lens and here is one that I took with M240.

I wonder what the contribution is of the used lens to what this photo makes special. The habit of the M10 of rendering a bit saturated plays a part in itself, but may be tempered with the color-rendition from a Leica lens from the 60’s. We only live once but I’m just curious if I would have been as enthousiast if it had been the newest Summilux FLE2 for instance.

The post you are referring to was a bit tongue-in-cheek then, as it was a time when people  were eagerly waiting for the announcement of the SR re-issue and I found the row of empty chairs fitting (this picture was actually taken at the Prada Foundation in Milan, Italy). Also, I thought the colours were rather Leica-ish, in a muted way.

Yes, the interaction of an old lens with a digital sensor may be part of the appeal in terms of colour, contrast and sharpness – it is to me anyway. There is also the infamous wide-open “glow” that this lens is known for and that is quite visible on the first chair of the row. I do not own the 35mm FLE v2, as I chose to keep the non-FLE ASPH after pitting it against the FLE v1. But it would probably have produced a sharper, more vibrant image (aka a “modern look”). A matter of taste or circumstances, really: as you say, we only live once – so you might as well pick your poison when it comes down to it...😉

Here's another one with the 1960 Summilux 35/1.4 v1 on the M10P ASC, probably @ f/2.8 or f/4

I like that shot very much, and that may partly be due to the 'misty' atmosphere in the left portion of the shot that may or may not have been produced by the lens. Either way, the result is very pleasing to the eye.

🤣 You should - it's actually quite good. Only shows some veiling flare in the *wrong* conditions.

Two more to entice you: 😉
