FED-10 50mm 3.5 (coated) + Sigma fp

I've never shot an Elmar 50/3.5. Whether the pictures are comparable, I don't know. Although I understand that the glasses are different, and the lenses are slightly different. But it's interesting to compare Industar-22 - FED-10 and Elmar 50/3.5

I have a 1949 Elmar 50/3.5 (coated) and would be happy to do some kind of shoot-out. Looking at your Flickr photo's it seems you live somewhere in Eastern Europe so meeting in person might be difficult (I live in Belgium) but maybe we can select a common type of subject/lighting conditions and then post the results here. Only I can't match your 61 MP of a Sigma but I don't think that's going to be of very big importance (my biggest sensor size is 42 MP)

Yes, you got that right, I live in Belarus. A long way from Belgium ))) I have a regular Sigma fp, no fpL, and it has a 24MP sensor. I am not interested in the competition. I want to decide for myself whether to buy Elmar, or I won't get anything against my Fad-10 and Industar-22.

I wouldn't see it a a competition, more like a comparison of different aspects of the lens, both objective and subjective

OK. I don't know about Belgium, but our weather is quite grey and cloudy at the moment

what about the Soviet rangefinder lenses in this thread?

Reminds me that I always wanted to try the 1:1.8/53mm Helios 103 on the M:

M10P ASC + 196X Kern Macro-Switar 50/1.8 (with Kipon Alpa to M adapter). Both are LR-converted OOC, wide open and handheld.

Just a quick illustration of the capabilities of this lens (click on the images to see better, sharper images). First at rangefinder MFD (about 1m), second at minimum "macro" MFD (28cm with the EVF).
Going from 1m to infinity takes less than 180°. However, going from 1m to 28cm requires over 2 full turns of the focus ring: very precise, but it also makes using the "macro" range for everyday photography quite slow and cumbersome in practice.
I'll post more meaningful pictures when I can.

Same as above, but on the M10M. I'd really need to use a tripod for those macro shots...
