First time I've had any such effect with my 1967 Summaron f2.8 plus hood 12585H (Leitz Wetzlar).  The bright sun must have been at just the right (as in wrong) orientation.  On M11.

To me it looks like a finger print maybe on a UV filter you have. For the rest, it is a very good M11 picture once again.

It is mind-boggling for me that in the beginning, the M11 was so misjudged.

Thanks.  No filter fitted and given how deeply set the front element on the Summaron is, it has remained finger-print free. :)   Being deeply set and with hood fitted I was surprised that the sun managed to actually strike the element.  When the photo was taken I was using the OVF and not reviewing, so was unaware until downloading.  If I run across similar conditions again, I'll check the rear screen just in case...

+1, root cause might be the filter, IMHO...
