Ecar Posted November 25, 2019 Share #5108 Posted November 25, 2019 (edited) A couple of test shots with a 1955 Steinheil Quinon 50/2 in LTM on the M10. Both wide open at MFD, which is about 50-60cm with this lens (I used the EVF to go closer than the RF would allow). The lens just returned from a CLA and is quite impressive now: very sharp in the center (look at the dust on the in-focus lightbulb in the B&W picture) with progressive fall-off, little vignetting, virtually no chromatic aberrations - and that beautiful Sonnar look. Only downside is a bit more distortion than I'd like. Just a word of caution if anyone here stumbles on one of these: there are two M39 versions, one for Leica and one for the Braun Paxette. The Paxette version will mount, but won't work on a Leica camera without modification. Both look very similar, so double-check before buying. Welcome, dear visitor! Ecar Posted November 27, 2019 Share #5120 Posted November 27, 2019 2 hours ago, farnz said: Were you using an OLLUX lens hood, Ecar? Pete. Yes, Pete. Actually, a modern OLLUX clone - the real thing has become so difficult/expensive to find that I leave it in a drawer (perhaps it should go to a safe?). Anyway, the clone is virtually identical (although heavier than the original hood) and the lens is optically in great condition and came back recently from a CLA, so as good as it's ever going to be. It's the light that was truly ugly (milky white and hazy on a rainy day) when I took those pictures... Compared to the v2, the v1 is an even lower-contrast lens. That's my 2nd copy of the lens in several years (I foolishly sold the 1st one...).
