Wayne Posted August 21, 2016 Share #2909 Posted August 21, 2016 M9, Canon 1.2 LTM, 50mm. Approached a large milkweed plant- previously thought to be a flower- that I now recognized in the back garden. Wife: "Stop! Monarch caterpillars!" followed by "How many times do I have to tell you to stop pulling things out of the garden without asking me first?" All I could do to restore my dignity was take a photograph. Near 100% crop. Welcome, dear visitor! KevinL Posted August 21, 2016 Share #2910 Posted August 21, 2016 M9, Canon 1.2 LTM, 50mm. Near 100% crop. L6050391.jpg Lucky you! Always cool when you get to see the caterpillars. Milkweeds are flowers -- all sorts of pollinators feast on the nectar when they're in bloom. Very beneficial to a whole bunch of pollinators (bees, wasps, butterflies, etc.), and absolutely critical to the survival of the monarchs. Plant more! I harvest the seed pods once they pop open every year and drop the seeds around (on our property, in wild spots, parks, urban wastelands, etc.). Monarchs need all the help they can get.
Me Leica! Posted August 22, 2016 Share #2911 Posted August 22, 2016 Is it acceptable to upload pictures taken with Leica lenses on non-Leica cameras? I recently picked up an Epson R-D1 with a 1961 Summicron, and the quality is really quite something.

It suffices if either the lens or the camera is a Leica.
