Here is a 5cm f1.4 Nikkor S-C Sonnar LTM seen through a 5cm f1.4 Nikkor S-C Sonnar LTM.

One is the earlier Nippon Kogaku Tokyo version, manufactured during the American occupation and the one taking the photo is a slightly later Nippon Kogaku Japan version.

Both are 43mm filter size versions, likely with same optical formula, completely different coatings though.

Now I still have to find a nice 5cm f1.5 and of course a Millennium to round off the Nikkor addiction … and a Micro Nikkor LTM and a f2 collapsible and a … ahhhhh … it never stops ...

Steffen,

indeed, it never, ever stops  :)

I find that the Anastigmat is crisp when shooting with the light, but starts to flare when shooting against the light - even the modern coating does not seem to help ...

Another example from my Vienne One Challenge roll.

Yes, the PM system here got me in a loop when the new forum software was introduced - reducing the allowance on PMs more then I had old PMs in the box.

I don't bother the PM system here - you can get me best by mail (through my website or on flickr).

I don't know what took me so long, but I just received a small package with something fat inside ;-)

A fat Walter Mandler special, the 90 f2.8 Tele-Elmarit - this will need some work, having spent most of it's life as a shelf queen obviously (barely a mark of use and pretty gunk'ed up 50 year old Canadian grease).

Just picked up a used 90mm M-Hexanon for my classic Mononcrhrom.  I'm very pleased with it.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Jeff, that looks to be some some titanic festivities ;-)

Jean Marc, congrats on the Hektor - this one looks cleaaaaan indeed (I take it you used the lens hood - so contrasty and no glow at all).

I am on a 73 -ish trip myself these days and using the 75 Summilux where usually I used to use a 50mm for street portraits.

Here are two recent ones from Shanghai:

Great shots Dirk !

No hood fitted but a e39 UV filter on the Hektor  lens so yes, it is a sharp sample !! An original hood might be tricky to find !

Cheers ! JM

Thanks JM, now then yours is indeed a gem. A pity it didn't came with the hood, as these are indeed impossible to find separately.

No need to worry though - I would be happy if mine would be as sharp as yours, but then it has an entirely different appeal altogether ;-)

Here is one with the Noctilux v4 - I am on a roll these days, taking lenses out that saw little use over the last months.

I agree, Dirk.  My 73/1.9 just had too much haze and veiling flare and I was unable to find a hood on its own so I released it back into the wild and I still have my eye out for a better copy.

Season's greetings everyone. :)

Pete.

Yes, on these early uncoated Leitz lenses just a small hint of haze or - beware - a few cleaning marks in the "soft as young Gouda cheese" will lead to the famous "Leica glow" when light hits the front element. Only remedy for the latter is a good lens hood (the original slip on hood for the Hektor works fantastic) or a trip to Focalpoint for a re-polish and maybe a coating or two.

Good to see some Duals being used out there Pete ;-)
