Thx for this and your comment, Ecar,

school is toooo long ago for me and I start mixing things up ...

I like cement and concrete more than graveyards. Here is one more impression,

made from castiron ...

I recently had three 85/2 lenses CLA'd.

So, before the rain started again earlier this afternoon, I did a quick test with the M240.

Nothing scientific (handheld, different focus points, etc.) and truly boring pictures, but they show the different character of each lens.

All wide open, no processing other than WB equalization and conversion in LR 4.4.

I think your Summar needs a hood ...

Last picture from my 1934 Summar with M9 (second one is a 100% crop)

I sold it today to finance the used M9.

Picture is out of cam, + contrast + saturation

Initially I conceived older glass as synonym to Bokeh parade. Big mistake. After Aviator has more than once told me how great the Canon 50/1.2 LTM was in resolution when stopped down a bit, I was blown by seeing what this gem is capable of in terms of everyday shooting.

M9 + Canon 50/1.2 LTM. I love this circular out of DOF rendition full open. Makes a sort of tourbillon or carousel/vortex or Waltz effect.

What aperture were you shooting at? Mine doesn't look anywhere near that good wide open.

Full open when portraying and dealing with Bokeh. Because stopped down, beginning with f2, you get these edgy lights (see below, 1st). When used for general photography any aperture will do fine and the lens starts getting real bitingly sharp from f2 onwards.

I guess I'm extremely lucky in having gotten a very good lens. It looks very neat, hardly ever used, and its image quality is perfect. It suffers from backfocus that increases with the distance, but after a while you get the feeling of how much you must turn to the right to compensate.

These full open images need very little adjustments in LR (2nd img - focus point sitting at the nose tip, LR counts f1.4 but in fact it was 1.2). Maybe you try those settings and observe if that helps in your case.

Yes, that kind of swirling OOF is typical of fast Canon lenses of that era.

See first picture in post linked below - 1966 35/2 wide open.

Another go from today with my 1966-Tele-Elmar, at f4.

I was seconds away from getting the 135mm-Apo recently, but this old beast is still going too strong,

esp. when attached to a VISOflex.

Best
