Leican Posted August 23, 2010 Share #1723 Posted August 23, 2010 I signed up a year ago... and have been very inactive in this forum :-) but have always wanted to get an MP since the first time I read this thread. Eventually :-) , I bought this used MP from a local camera shop in Bangkok, it came with the black-chrome 35cron (the former owner painted red color on the number as you see). I love my MP :-) Welcome, dear visitor! I wont get weak at these prices for the beautified M6 (duck…).
Leican Posted August 27, 2010 Share #1728 Posted August 27, 2010 "Leica Camera has already ceased production of film cameras." asahi.com Seriously? Will Leica camera AG continue the "à la carte" MP/M7 production line? By the way, a few days ago, I found one black paint Leica MP on sale for 83,000 baht (€ 2,000) in a Thai BW forum (Aug 24, 2010) Black and White Rhapsodies Group - ا˹ǴҤ leica MP black paint Not in a pristine mint AAA+++ condition, but the brassing on black paint MP is really beautiful. farnz Posted September 4, 2010 Share #1734 Posted September 4, 2010 Okay, guys I'm relatively new. I just bought an M9 and I'm in love with it. Now I find myself wanting a manual Leica too. What should I look for? Advice please.....? Adarsha Welcome to the forum, Adarsha, and congratulations on your M9! Leica cameras are pretty much all manual so I guess you're looking for a film M camera. Many people have their favourite Leica rangefinder camera so you're likely to get lots of opinion about the M2, M3, M4, M4-P, M5, M6, M6TTL, M7, et al and screwmount cameras (Leica 11a, 11c, 111f, 111g etc) but imho if you're looking for the best you should look for a MP and you've found the right thread. Allen in Montreal Posted September 4, 2010 Share #1735 Posted September 4, 2010 Okay, guys I'm relatively new. I just bought an M9 and I'm in love with it. Now I find myself wanting a manual Leica too. What should I look for? Advice please.....? Adarsha Ask 10 people, you get 12 opinions. I have bought, sold and traded a lot of gear over the years, nothing beats the M6 as a users camera. Stick it in your pocket and walk and shoot all day, the M6. The harder question is, which B+W emulsion do you settle on.
Adarsha Posted September 4, 2010 Share #1736 Posted September 4, 2010 Yes, of course sorry, I realised just as I put the post up, I meant film of course.. lol There is so much you can do with film and digital, but most importantly as I have access to a great dark room for the next year of so I think I should get a film M too. andrekeli Posted September 5, 2010 Share #1737 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) hi all, juz sharing... i walked into my fave cam shop this afternoon, unable to decide between M9 or MP these few days... when my eyes rested on this baby and held it up in my hands, my mind's made up... i postponed getting my M9 and got the MP instead... such a mint condition, paint was excellent, mechanics was great... the previous owner was a collector not really a photographer... i own DLux4 and X1 too...for now, I can still use them for my digital breaks... but i love to have film nowadays as a complement...thus, MP kinda tired w digital fancy dandy... i juz want the basics... it was such a beauty to behold, a brute beast to hold... my only issue here is the declining photo labs in jakarta... i m yet to find a good one.. i am testing it tomorrow... also good films are hard to find n to ship them over from the US costs me like USD50-100... any ideas, anyone? my dream for M9 continues but i will wait until the price comes down a bit... or get a secondhand M9 (in next year or so)... opinions, anybody? here's my new baby...
