Dan's camera is a 1956 - 1957 original, all mechanical, batteryless and meterless MP.

That's how it look like or is it?

Good restoration then.

Uh oh... I see the battery cover... not the 30 grand MP.

Allan,

That's an LHSA MP3. Dan doesn't think he needs a 75/2. :D

D'ohh!

Now I see it on the hotshoe...

William, I think you must get a cut everytime an expensive Leica lens gets sold!

:D

You're sending all your friends to the poorhouse!!!

Thanks.

Allan

....the 'Lux. Finding one of those used is another story altogether.
Dan, I got mine used a couple of months ago. Mint, with box and case for $1800. They're out there...

William doesn't like the 75 'lux because it's bigger than the camera. LOL.

I just love the way it renders the OOF areas. (I'm still afraid to use "bokeh" in a sentence:o )

Allan....the 75/2 isn't even on my radar screen, lol. I would lean towards the faster big brother....the 'Lux. Finding one of those used is another story altogether.

That's only because you haven't tried a 75/2. A monster Lux is hard to focus at f1.4 unless your subject is at 25 meters! At f 2.8 the DOF is still very shallow with a 75 and the 75/2 will blow the 25-year-old monster out of the weeds...(contrast, OOF, color correection, short, smooth focus throw, etc., etc.), all in a compact package which doesn't block the viewfinder frame. Reality check time! Real world use. How does the damn picture look? Ask Ron. He likes his 75/2 more than a 50/1.4 ASPH.., which might be taking it a bit far..., but you get the idea. :)

The inmates are running the asylum! :)

I am perusing a set of images shot with a 50 1.4 pre-asph right now. How close does the 75/2 focus? Keep in mind I already have the 90 APO Asph - and it's very hard for me to justify a 75 of any variety. Something would have to go....

You only just now noticed?! :)

Your choice of cameras has ruled out a 75. I DID warn you... :D

A 75/2 focuses to 0.7 m., BTW. Leica Camera AG - Photography - LEICA APO-SUMMICRON-M 75 mm f/2 ASPH.

Allan,

Ron did some great shots with Robert Hill's 50 ASPH, (you remember them?), but could not buy both it AND a 75/2, so he opted for the 75/2 AA. You are probably right that it suits his style better while I'm still trying to figure out WHEN to use mine. :)
