James:

The VC 35 COLOR-SCOPAR is no dog and some day when I get a round tuit:D I'll post some pics to make my point. Please do the same.

I like it better than the pancake version even though the pancake is an M mount. I have both but only use the pancake when I want to carry the camera in my pocket

Robert,

is the 35 Color-Scopar the same lens formulation as the Pancake II? Are they essentially the same lens in a different mount?

Thanks

Tim

She's mine, all mine I tell you!!!.... (grins with maniacal laughter)

Ron, you're new here...at least to me!

:)

Welcome!

Nice looking kit. Very sensible choice with that Elmar...extremely compact and imminently travelable camera/lens combo. Like Bill P says, "The best camera is the one you have with you when you want to take a picture"; and this fills the bill.

What strap is that, BTW? Looks v. nice on the MP.

Thanks.

Allan

Alan,

Thanks for your kind words.

I tend to carry the MP with 50 Elmar with me nearly everywhere. I can't tell you how many shots I've been able to get simply because I was carrying this small photographic package.

The strap is a Luigi, 15mm wide aged brown strap. I love it.

Ron

Tim:

I think James has answered your question quite well. Yes, handling characteristics are the main difference with the larger of the two being easier to focus etc. I guess there is a penalty to be paid for the PANCAKE lens's compactness. I regard it as a special circumstance rather than a regular use lens which is why I own both types.

Yours,

Robert Morrison, M4-P, etc. (you know, the other MP).

Welcome to the forum Simon.

Is it an old lux or the retro style asph on your cam?

The rough surface of the MP\s covering makes it look almost vintage.

But, what is the cylinder on the right side, an antenna for a built in cell phone?

regards,

Francis

Thanks Francis actually i've been here a while just couldn't log in on my other name it wouldn't accept my password but now i'm in again....

"Cylinder" is a part of a modified rewind crank from the Leica version. I tend to switch between this and the Photo Equip version. The lens is the LHSA edition of the 50/1.4 ASPH in black paint i did until recently use the earlier E43 lux.

Hi Miguel yes i much prefer this to the "sandpaper/sharkskin" version that it originally came with. Yours looks great :) and welcome to the Forum :)

thank you Francis and Simon!

Your »Cylindar« seems to be quite useful for a fast rewind, I asked you a while ago about it, but still haven`t had the oportunity to change mine:rolleyes:
