MPerson Posted May 6, 2013 Share #2962 Posted May 6, 2013 The MP’s rewind lever failed this morning, as I was loading a fresh roll of Double-X, just flapping around. As my son has the other MP with him - school trip to Barcelona - I shall revert to the trusty M2! Welcome, dear visitor! Paulus Posted May 7, 2013 Share #2965 Posted May 7, 2013 Funny I saw a Dutch plate 4x4 go by this morning! You? No, ours was a metallic Rover. Maybe I advertised the scenery to much in the Netherlands. I'm already home now.

lincoln_m Posted May 20, 2013 Share #2967 Posted May 20, 2013 Advertisement (gone after registration) Is it possible to replace the MP film advance lever with the M7 one? I find the MP one catches and half windes on the film when putting the camera in the bag. Lincoln
menos I M6 Posted May 21, 2013 Share #2968 Posted May 21, 2013 Is it possible to replace the MP film advance lever with the M7 one? I find the MP one catches and half windes on the film when putting the camera in the bag.Lincoln In theory, the Leica M6 classic advance lever should be a straight swap and work, as the Leica MP advance lever was the item, I bought to exchange on my M6 classic. lincoln_m Posted May 21, 2013 Share #2969 Posted May 21, 2013 Is it a quick DIY job? What tools do you need? Oh I have a leica repair book hidden somewhere, I'll look it up. I hope you don't have to take the whole top plate off. Lincoln
Stealth3kpl Posted May 21, 2013 Share #2970 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) I think it is a quick change just undoing the cap holding it on. I noticed an M4 film advance lever on ebay this morning. Unscrew the cap with one of these Pete Edited May 21, 2013 by Stealth3kpl
disco300 Posted May 22, 2013 Share #2971 Posted May 22, 2013 Hi there! I would like to ask your help for a subject that had been discussed already for sure, but honestly I need some guidance. I am a young photographer (as a pro I work in a daily newspaper using dslrs) but for my personal documentary projects I use my leica mp 0.72x (with a 35mm summicron). I decided that is time to get an extra body and I am thinking between another mp with 0.85x or an m3 with the 0.91x to match with my 50mm summilux. My question is, from your experience, which camera is better from a user (I mean really use) perspective. Please don't suggest any other camera or compare the mp and m3 moneywise. I need a user comparison between these two cameras, because I don't have the opportunity to test any of them as I have to travel abroad to find a shop with such equipment! I hope my English is ok and that I post my question at the right place. Thanks in advance!
Stealth3kpl Posted May 22, 2013 Share #2972 Posted May 22, 2013 I have owned both. I didn't think the M3 was anything special compared to my M2s, and sold it soon after its purchase. My MP I had for about a year. The MP perhaps wasn't quite as smooth as the M3 but given a choice between the two I'd say get another (and younger) MP. N.B. I had no problems with viewfinder flare with either. Pete
andybarton Posted May 22, 2013 Share #2973 Posted May 22, 2013 My MP is back from having its rangefinder adjusted. 4 1/2 weeks it was away, but it's also had its speeds checked and adjusted and checked all over. A CLA, in other words. Feels better than new.
lincoln_m Posted May 22, 2013 Share #2974 Posted May 22, 2013 Andy, Did they report errors in speeds and the changed them? It would be good to know if there was an issue over time. Thanks Lincoln
andybarton Posted May 23, 2013 Share #2975 Posted May 23, 2013 They didn't report any errors, per se, but the worksheet included the usual "check and adjust" statement, so I assume they do do these checks.
IkarusJohn Posted May 23, 2013 Share #2976 Posted May 23, 2013 I love the simplicity of my M3. I don't use it that much, but then it didn't cost that much either, and its a joy to use. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Paul Verrips Posted May 24, 2013 Share #2977 Posted May 24, 2013 After seeing almost all the post in this topic, i asked Leica if BP MP "a la carte" is possible with black hotshot, black film counter dial and engraving my name (name on backside of bottom plate). If they say YES, i think i will order a BP MP with vulcanite, black hotshot & black film counter dial. Can't wait for the answer! Tomorrow i buy my first film since 2004 and will experience film since a long time ago. I will use my F3, F4, F5 or F100 for this experience.
Guest SUMOLUX Posted May 25, 2013 Share #2978 Posted May 25, 2013 Wow. As if the thread wasn't bordering on being pretentious enough already. People actually care about what someone does with a picture of their camera? Didn't realize we were looking at art here. I always thought the thread was about sharing the MP love. God I missed this idiocy...What pretentious twaddle from wannabe's. Indeed....Anyone who thinks they can actually delete digital images from the Internet really does not have a clue about life in the digital world. Those pictures have been downloaded already by dozens of people the first time they appeared, and are cached all over the world in servers. No professionally imbued photographer would even bother with this. And I thought this was a place to share our appreciation of Leica. If you don't want anyone to copy your picture, or download it, then keep the bloody camera in your bag or stroke it in the privacy of your home. openuser Posted May 31, 2013 Share #2979 Posted May 31, 2013 After a year and a month after, I must say I love the camera innumerable amount more than the first week of initial novelty and endorphin from an expensive new "toy". Of course it is now a companion that I have by my side every day everywhere I go. Almost always on my hand everywhere I walk! I love my MP!
