ECohen Posted November 21, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) How do I get the most out of my batteries ?Is this statement true, for proper care and long life of the M240's battery? I copied this from the Internet on a search for proper care of lithium batteries"Here's what you should do: Perform shallow discharges. Instead of discharging to 0% all the time, lithium-ion batteries do best when you discharge them for a little bit, then charge them for a little bit. May 6, 2014" Thanks for your help and advice
Advertisement Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Hi ECohen, Take a look here Easy battery question....please. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Peter Kilmister Posted November 21, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 21, 2016 Li-ion batteries don't need special attention as far my experience goes. I usually charge my camera battery at around 65% or 70% but you could let it go much lower than that.
Steve Ricoh Posted November 22, 2016 Share #3 Posted November 22, 2016 Don't deep discharge, not that the camera will allow you to flatten. But if you were to place an external load across the terminals and fully discharge, you'd probably kill the battery without specialist equipment to restore. There's an article on Li-ion, maybe in FEQs, but 20-80% is probably optimal, and about 40% if you plan to store the battery unused, restoring to the same level periodically. Rick Posted November 22, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 22, 2016 Don't buy into dogmatic ideology about Li-ion batteries. Use them without worry. If they go dead - charge them. If they are partially discharged - charge them. Whatever you read is of no practical matter, use them as you wish. Rick

Jeff S Posted November 22, 2016 Share #9 Posted November 22, 2016 Good thing most men don't read manuals (or ask for directions).....then you'd be really confused. As I wrote here.... http://www.l-camera-forum.com/topic/232098-will-it-hurt-a-partial-discharge-battery-to-recharge-it/?p=2649619 Lots of other similar discussions. Peter Kilmister Posted November 22, 2016 Share #12 Posted November 22, 2016 If everything had to be alphabetic then UK would be zapped, followed a few years later by USA (always late for a battle!) and Leica would have to rename itself ACEIL or be wiped from the face of the earth. Meanwhile CCCP and EU would survive. WWW would be head of the world, but every zoo would be closed. Let's stick with OCD ... please.

Peter Kilmister Posted November 22, 2016 Share #14 Posted November 22, 2016 Yes, that is true. However, the Battle of Britain was won long before your lot turned up. Had we not survived alone your country would have had no 'Landing Strip One' when you finally arrived. We are eternally grateful for the support in ending a ghastly world war. What a shame your politicians couldn't have leant a hand earlier. Anyway, your beloved country completely fails Pico's alphabetic test ... in the same way that Leica does. BBC does well though! Australian Broadcasting Association (ABC) does very well and ABBA fell at the last hurdle.
