rjsphd Posted November 21, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 21, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a M 240 I use with the Leica handgrip and I am looking for an arca-swiss-compatable L-bracket that will allow me to switch from landscape to portrait easily with my tripod's ballhead. The Really Right Stuff bracket won't work because it is made for the M's tripod mount and the threads are in a different location on the handgrip. I like my grip and don't want to switch to the RRS handgrip. Any other solutions that you have experience with that work?
Advertisement Posted November 21, 2016 Posted November 21, 2016 Hi rjsphd, Take a look here L-bracket conundrum. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Luke_Miller Posted November 21, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 21, 2016 My solution is - both. The RRS baseplate is the best solution I've found for tripod work, while I prefer the Leica handgrip when I put my SF-58 in the hotshoe.

Peter Wright Posted November 25, 2016 Share #4 Posted November 25, 2016 You could take a look at the Novoflex L-bracket. It will attach to the Leica hand grip and is area-swiss compatible. Keep in mind that the RRS heads/clamps are NOT area-swiss compatible (as I pointed out in another thread above), so if you are using an RRS clamp you will not be able to use acre-swiss plates. Luke_Miller Posted November 25, 2016 Share #5 Posted November 25, 2016 ... if you are using an RRS clamp you will not be able to use acre-swiss plates. I have three heads (none that are RRS) that have RRS clamps. I've used RRS, Kirk, Wimberly, and Hejnar plates without issue.

Funny, I have had no issue with the RRS L plate.. Albert
peterbob67 Posted December 2, 2016 Share #7 Posted December 2, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've used the RRS L bracket (for my M9) and the Arca Swiss Universal L bracket; I backpack and weight is important to me, as is quality. I can't recommend one of these from ProMediaGear enough: http://www.promediagear.com/Universal_c_22.html I have the 3" version. One real advantage, apart from price and weight, is that it stores the allen key within the bracket, which is a great feature, espacially if you are like me and lose stuff... So, for cost, quality, weight, adaptability and practicability I can't recommend this enough. I sold my Arca Swiss Universal L bracket; and I won't do RSS simply because you have to change bracket with each new camera. Oh yes, and I too had problems with RSS - their ball-head with 'Arca Swiss compatible' lever clamp did not take the Arca Swiss bracket - it wouldn't close enough to clamp, which was a major disappointment for such an expensive item, and their customer service wasn't particularly helpful either. So Peter Wright above mirrors my experience. Pete
hoppyman Posted December 2, 2016 Share #8 Posted December 2, 2016 My own experience with RRS products and their customer support has been uniformly excellent.I don't think that every company works to the same standard for that 'arca swiss compatibility'. If two brands don't work together the differences may be with either. I don't think that you can assume that only the RRS product would be at fault. RRS do comment that they cant guarantee other brands would be compatible. You can read that as glass half full or empty I guess.I can comment that the Tether Tools probracket works perfectly with my RRS clamps
