Jkulin Posted November 20, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, I have three really beautiful Contax G2 Lenses that I would like to use with my T, does anyone make an adapter that will work with them? Advertisement Posted November 20, 2016 Posted November 20, 2016 Hi Jkulin, Take a look here Using Contax G2 Lenses with a T. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Louis Posted November 20, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) Try Novoflex: http://www.novoflex.com/en/products/adapters/ If there is an adapter for your lenses, Novoflex is your best chance. In this site, you can write down your lens and the camera body, then you find out if there is an adapter available. Good luck! Guest VVJ Posted November 20, 2016 Share #3 Posted November 20, 2016 This one should probably do it I believe. No personal experience but there is a small review of somebody who uses the 35-70mm on his SL: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1103368-REG/novoflex_let_cont_lens_mount_adapter.html
Jkulin Posted November 20, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted November 20, 2016 Thanks Louis and JorisV, I have emailed Novoflex as I am not sure if the Contax G2 which has a G mount is the same as the normal Contax/Yashica Mount, if it is then I have three beautiful Carl Zeiss T* lenses to add to my armoury :-)

Guest VVJ Posted November 20, 2016 Share #6 Posted November 20, 2016 Thanks Louis and JorisV, I have emailed Novoflex as I am not sure if the Contax G2 which has a G mount is the same as the normal Contax/Yashica Mount, if it is then I have three beautiful Carl Zeiss T* lenses to add to my armoury :-) My mistake. They are different mounts. I assumed the 35-70mm was the G2 lens but it probably isn't. I did a further search but couldn't immediately find anything. I also have the 45/2 lens in Contax G mount, so interested as well.

Jkulin Posted January 20, 2017 Author Share #8 Posted January 20, 2017 Novoflex told me to email info@kipon.com which I have twice and got no reply, so a bit lost now, maybe I need to get back to using my Contax G2 as the lens are beautiful.
rpopescu Posted January 20, 2017 Share #9 Posted January 20, 2017 I tried looking at their website (english version) and didn't see any Contax or G mount referenced. I also re-read the G2 to M modification review on Ken Rockwell's website, and on the website of the guy(s) who do the mods in Japan they state that L mount is possible but they only do it for Japan based customers. I think that this L mount mod would also convert the lens to manual focus, which isn't an issue for me but I thought it needs mention. Can I have my lens converted to Leica L rather than M? At the core the lenses will be converted to LTM mount lenses. However their use as L lenses directly on camera requires some additional technical calibration with the camera so we decided that for customers outside of Japan we would only offer M mount conversions. The M mount will be semi-permanently fixed and can be removed if you really wanted to, but doing so may create focussing issues so it is not recommended. rpopescu Posted January 23, 2017 Share #10 Posted January 23, 2017 I've received a reply from Novoflex: I´m sorry but we only have an adaptert for Contax/Yashica lenses, not for Contax G.
MarkP Posted January 23, 2017 Share #11 Posted January 23, 2017 (edited) http://www.japancamerahunter.com/services/lens-conversion/ They may be able to do an unusual conversion, or your best option is to get Leica M mount conversions and use an M -T adapter. I hope this helps. Edited January 23, 2017 by MarkP

That's the same site I linked to above; check out the quote I reproduced from their FAQ, because it's not quite that simple when it comes to the use of Contax G lenses as L lenses... Same, I have a pristine 28mm which probably would have made a lovely 40mm equivalent.

terence gets Posted January 28, 2017 Share #14 Posted January 28, 2017 Having just acquired a T body and having many Contax lenses, I sought a way of using these. The end result was getting a Novoflex Let/Contax adapter. My first attempt to attach a contax lense was a failure but reaching for another got it firmly attached to the T. I know that it will have to be used as a manual BUT at the moment, I can't get the camera to function. The monitor turns on and most of the ikons. I haven't inserted a SIM card but that shouldn't be a factor??
Jkulin Posted January 28, 2017 Author Share #15 Posted January 28, 2017 The only problem is Terrence that that is for the Contax Yashica mount not the G2
Sam_W Posted January 29, 2017 Share #16 Posted January 29, 2017 You can buy a kit from Hawk's Factory (available on eBay) that replaces the mount and focusing mechanism of most of the G lenses. (You can't do it to the Hologon, the Sonnar 2.8/90, and the Vario-Sonnar 3.5-5.6/35-70.) This is something you can do at home with some skill/luck, or take to a local camera tech to do it for you. It's expensive, at around US$450, but it'll get you a native M mount on the lens, and then you can use the M-Adapter L to mate to the T[L].
Jkulin Posted January 29, 2017 Author Share #17 Posted January 29, 2017 Thanks Sam, I personally don't want to spoil any of my G2 lenses as they are for use with my Contax G2 Kit. I'll stick with the Leica T/TL lenses and just buy a prime later on.
terence gets Posted January 29, 2017 Share #18 Posted January 29, 2017 Thanks,JKulin, for the comments on contax lenses. The G type(Yashica)won't work but then I found another of my contax lenses which must be an S type since it attaches with the LET/CONTAX.......does it work though? And I also have HEXAR lenses to try.
steveBK Posted July 31, 2017 Share #19 Posted July 31, 2017 If someone can engineer a Contax G autofocusing adapter for Leica TL/SL, that would be quite the holy grail... They've already done similar in Sony NEX/Alpha land, obviously bigger volumes there of course. I'm sure there'd be a few buyers here, but who do we commission for the work :-D
RickP Posted July 31, 2017 Share #20 Posted July 31, 2017 If I recall correctly, Novoflex doesn't even make an adapter for Contax G to Leica T mount. Not sure why???
