Burial at Arlington National Cemetery

Today my uncle, a WW2 navy veteran who served in the South Pacific aboard a hospital gun ship and was part of the liberation of the Philippines and went ashore in Japan after surrender, had his ashes (along with his wife) laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery. He died in the spring at the age of 92. It was a moving experience, hard to say anything more. My dad, an Army infantry soldier who fought on Omaha Beach, was wounded in the hedge rows of Normandy, earned a Purple Heart and Bronze Star, was sent back to fight in the Battle of the Bulge and, in later years was awarded the Legionne D'Honore from the French Government, is still alive and kicking at 94. He, btw, is the one who introduced me to Leica and who still shoots his iiif on occasion.

I will probably post some more in the coming days, but this shot is one I particularly liked ...... taken with the Q.

My sympathy to you and to your family. My father in law is  Korean war vet and has a space at the same place for his ash, where his wife, my mother in law's ash is already there!

Best regards,
