Robinyuill Posted November 12, 2016 Share #1 Posted November 12, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi there. Just bought a V550 scanner to process my film and slide collection. I'm wanting to continue using film and have had poor results with sending off to get develop and scans. (quality and costs!) The quality of the scans are great but the scanner seems to only scan one or two negatives at a time then stalls till I move the cursor on the screen. I thought it would batch scan two strips of negatives or four transparencies at a time. I'm using macOS Sierra and wondered if anyone on the forum is using this combination successfully and can give me some info on setup. Regards Robin. Advertisement Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Hi Robinyuill, Take a look here Epson V550 scanner questions.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Bobitybob Posted November 12, 2016 Share #2 Posted November 12, 2016 I have the same scanner and even using Epson's own somewhat clunky software your scanner should indeed scan as you thought, but you may find that the problem lies with macOS Sierra. My Mac will no longer read my external USB drives. A quick search on the net suggests that this and various other problems with USB function are becoming a regular complaint amongst many although not all users who have upgraded to Sierra. Hopefully Apple will cure this problem soon.

Robinyuill Posted November 13, 2016 Author Share #4 Posted November 13, 2016 Thanks for the replies. I've tried downloading the patch but no success. As before it just stalls and you have to nudge the cursor to get it to continue and scan the next image. Things are looking bad for me and the future of film with my M7 unless I can sort it out. Regards, Robin.
pop Posted November 13, 2016 Share #5 Posted November 13, 2016 Did you install the patch as well, or did you just download it?
chris_livsey Posted November 14, 2016 Share #6 Posted November 14, 2016 Shut down Sierra and re-open, not just restart.
Robinyuill Posted November 14, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted November 14, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) yes, dowloaded and restarted with no success. Will persist with deleting and reloading software to see if that works. Thanks.
pop Posted November 14, 2016 Share #8 Posted November 14, 2016 yes, dowloaded and restarted with no success. Will persist with deleting and reloading software to see if that works. Thanks. You have mentioned downloading twice, but you never mentioned having installed the downloaded software. You do know that installing the software is an additional step to be performed after downloading, don't you?
chris_livsey Posted November 14, 2016 Share #9 Posted November 14, 2016 yes, dowloaded and restarted with no success. Will persist with deleting and reloading software to see if that works. Thanks. I don't know if re-loading the siftware will work, that is wether the patch has been incorporated into the current release, that was not the case in the other thread. Both Apple and Epsom reported all drivers and software were up to date yet the patch was required, if you re-load you may loose the patch if you have applied it correctly and the correct one as they seem to vary between models i thought. leica dream Posted November 20, 2016 Share #10 Posted November 20, 2016 Keith's comment is encouraging because I am just transferring my affections from my ageing WINXP machine to a Macbook with OS10X El Capitain. I use my V700 perfectly on the WIN machine, so shall look for the update when I start using the MAC for scanning.
