Advertisement Posted January 11, 2017 Posted January 11, 2017 Hi edwardkaraa, Take a look here Leica M 10. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mmradman Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1282 Posted January 11, 2017 So a Type 3656 could be a 36MP CCD sensor. Hmmmm. Wonder who makes them? How about 36Mp CMOS? CMOS is more likely than CCD, like 99.99% more likely.
ELAN Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1283 Posted January 11, 2017 And why having removed the video button? It could have been made programmable for other purposes especially image magnification when we don't need (or like) auto magnification. I think the movie button is now incorporated into the on/off switch, which makes more sense than the M240 button. After all, movie is just another capture mode that should be triggered with the shutter button. I am hoping that the absence of markings on the on/off switch means that the selected position is indicated in the viewfinder, along with current ISO and speed, and hopefully a level, all with a setting to display the info or not display anything for a clear viewfinder. colint544 Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1285 Posted January 11, 2017 The M10 looks super nice. So, on previous trends, it should be 2020 before the Monochrom version is available, and perhaps 2021 before the M-D version comes out. I wonder what they'll put on the back of the M-D, since the ISO setting is now taken care of by the dial on the top plate?
lct Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1286 Posted January 11, 2017 I think the movie button is now incorporated into the on/off switch, which makes more sense than the M240 button. [...] Interesting idea. Thanks for sharing. But why removing a button which could have been programmable?
ELAN Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1287 Posted January 11, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) Interesting idea. Thanks for sharing. But why removing a button which could have been programmable? Because Leica (and I) would prefer a cleaner body. Less buttons is better. Looks like the M10 also removed some buttons from the back. lct Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1288 Posted January 11, 2017 Because Leica (and I) would prefer a cleaner body. Less buttons is better. [...] We would not have more buttons by removing the front one that is anything but comfortable.
ELAN Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1289 Posted January 11, 2017 We would not have more buttons by removing the front one that is anything but comfortable. I agree. That front button (I use it for EC) is awfully cumbersome to use.
harmen Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1290 Posted January 11, 2017 Why does the on/off switch have a little tab with a dot? Is text missing from the top plate? Btw, the presumed ISO dial is actually an exposures setting. You can choose 36 exposures as a limit or more if you change your mind.
jonoslack Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1291 Posted January 11, 2017 I agree. That front button (I use it for EC) is awfully cumbersome to use. Cumbersome for EC, but I always thought it was great for magnification (because you don't need to hold it down and turn). I use the rear dial for EC
jaapv Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1292 Posted January 11, 2017 What? change the ISO with a dial There used to be this multi-ISO film - I used it once and got horrible results...
ELAN Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1293 Posted January 11, 2017 Cumbersome for EC, but I always thought it was great for magnification (because you don't need to hold it down and turn). I use the rear dial for EC Whenever I use the rear dial only for EC I regret it - it's always moves as the camera rubs against my side.
edwardkaraa Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1294 Posted January 11, 2017 What? change the ISO with a dial That's exactly how you change ISO on an FM2
keithlaban.co.uk Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1295 Posted January 11, 2017 Should a front button be retained it needs to be proud of the body making it easier to press. The M240 needed a blimp.
BerndReini Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1296 Posted January 11, 2017 There used to be this multi-ISO film - I used it once and got horrible results... That multi-ISO film exists again. It is called Portra 400, and while you can't rate it at ISO 6,400, you can pretty much rate it anywhere from ISO 25 to 1,600 without changing the exposure and get "acceptable" results, which can't be said for ANY digital camera, no matter the dynamic range they claim to possess. But that is a whole different discussion for another forum that has been debated ad nauseam. https://carmencitafilmlab.com/how-exposure-affects-film/
jaapv Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1297 Posted January 11, 2017 Yes - that was the film I found with the old version that using it at anything outside the ISO 200-800 range produced horrible brownish-reddish prints. I still have a double print on the wall from1993, but those are sunset shots - the cast didn't matter
chris_tribble Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1298 Posted January 11, 2017 Should a front button be retained it needs to be proud of the body making it easier to press. The M240 needed a blimp. Again - looking at the information to hand, the front button does appear to be proud of the surrounding ring in a way which is not the case with the M-240. Welcome, dear visitor! colonel Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1299 Posted January 11, 2017 I think the M10 should have two wheels which the user can define what they do, like the T. One day I like ISO, the next day exposure compensation Or is that too revolutionary ?
