willeica Posted January 10, 2017 Share #1221 Posted January 10, 2017 Advertisement (gone after registration) .............any external viewfinder is a negative kills off the slim and sleek handling of the camera I use an EVF for taking photos with older vintage lenses on a digital M where the rangefinder matching may be more than a bit 'off'. Remember that prior to the M3, Leica cameras only came with a 50mm viewfinder built in and that was only a little tunnel like device. As a vintage collector I have a drawer full of old viewfinders. For me an EVF is a nice 'one size fits all' solution. I will definitely order the EVF with the M10, assuming that one is available. Doing what I do may not be for everyone, but I enjoy using old Leica gear as well as the latest models. I know that I am not alone in this. See an article from the current issue of Shutterbug magazine linked below, which starts with my favourite lens, the Summar. http://www.shutterbug.com/content/our-10-top-vintage-lenses-use-digital-cameras William

chris_tribble Posted January 10, 2017 Share #1222 Posted January 10, 2017 Looking at my M240, there various differences - some interesting, one potentially annoying! Welcome, dear visitor! Looking at the gap between the control wheel and the rear of the body, it definitely looks slimmer (though not as slim as an M6).. Looking at the viewfinder, I'm concerned that it might require a different size dioptre than the standard one that Leica has used for decades. If this is the case I really hope they have a ready supply available!
 Simply register for free here – We are always happy to welcome new members! It certainly does not look to be as slim as a film M. For me this may be a blessing. If it is essentially the same size as a M240, there will be less temptation. Stealth3kpl Posted January 10, 2017 Share #1224 Posted January 10, 2017 On the iso dial I wonder if there's a red A for auto iso and the other figure is M for movie. Pete
Peter H Posted January 10, 2017 Share #1225 Posted January 10, 2017 The film(sensor)-plane marker looks closer to the hotshoe than it does on the M240, but if there's a difference in overall depth it must be tiny. I don't mind since I think the size of theM240 is fine as it is anyway. The weight will be interesting, but having seen the picture, the most important part now is the sensor, in my opinion. ianman Posted January 10, 2017 Share #1226 Posted January 10, 2017 It certainly doesn't have hybrid VF (going by the picture). How can you tell ?

I think what you're looking at is the index mark for the shutter speed dial. I don't see a image plane marking on either camera.
jaapv Posted January 10, 2017 Share #1228 Posted January 10, 2017 On the iso dial I wonder if there's a red A for auto iso and the other figure is M for movie. Pete That would be a bit strange. How would one adjust ISO for video use then?
Exodies Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1229 Posted January 11, 2017 That would be a bit strange. How would one adjust ISO for video use then? Use an old trick - set it to the last manually selected ISO.
Exodies Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1230 Posted January 11, 2017 The index mark for the speed dial is as bad as on the 240 - when there is something in the hot shoe you can't see it.
jaapv Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1231 Posted January 11, 2017 Use an old trick - set it to the last manually selected ISO. It would still be a rather odd location for a video selector.
jmahto Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1232 Posted January 11, 2017 How can you tell ? Going by how hot shoe looks like (very similar to T).

edwardkaraa Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1235 Posted January 11, 2017 What is the tab-like thing to the immediate left of the thumb rest on the top edge of the screen? It's the pull tab of the temporary screen protector.

Dougg Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1238 Posted January 11, 2017 In Chris's comparison shot, maybe my eyes are tricked but it seems the M10 top deck is a mm or so lower. See the thumbwheel housing and the eyepiece ring, nearer the top surface... Agree?
jaapv Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1239 Posted January 11, 2017 I looked about an hour ago. Now it does have it.
anickpick Posted January 11, 2017 Share #1240 Posted January 11, 2017 The shutter speed dial looks exactly like the one on the M240. ISO seems to go from 100 to 6400 - just like the M240. I think the M10 will be what the M-P 240 could have been from the beginning: An M240 that accepts the EVF of the T.
