Leica M 10

.............any external viewfinder is a negative kills off  the slim and sleek handling of the camera

I use an EVF for taking photos with older vintage lenses on a digital M where the rangefinder matching may be more than a bit 'off'. Remember that prior to the M3, Leica cameras only came with a 50mm viewfinder built in and that was only a little tunnel like device. As a vintage collector I have a drawer full of old viewfinders. For me an EVF is a nice 'one size fits all' solution. I will definitely order the EVF with the M10, assuming that one is available. Doing what I do may not be for everyone, but I enjoy using old Leica gear as well as the latest models. I know that I am not alone in this. See an article from the current issue of Shutterbug magazine linked below, which starts with my favourite lens, the Summar.

Looking at my M240, there various differences - some interesting, one potentially annoying!

Looking at the gap between the control wheel and the rear of the body, it definitely looks slimmer (though not as slim as an M6).. Looking at the viewfinder, I'm concerned that it might require a different size dioptre than the standard one that Leica has used for decades.  If this is the case I really hope they have a ready supply available!

If you look at the space in front of the hot shoe, it looks pretty similar to the M240.   It certainly does not look to be as slim as a film M.   For me this may be a blessing.  If it is essentially the same size as a M240, there will be less temptation.

The film(sensor)-plane marker looks closer to the hotshoe than it does on the M240, but if there's a difference in overall depth it must be tiny.

I don't mind since I think the size of theM240 is fine as it is anyway. The weight will be interesting, but having seen the picture, the most important part now is the sensor, in my opinion.

I think what you're looking at is the index mark for the shutter speed dial. I don't see a image plane marking on either camera.
