Advertisement Posted June 14, 2007 Posted June 14, 2007 Hi imnotaniceboy, Take a look here Digilux 2 users. how much time have you waited for yours to be rapeir.. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
richam Posted June 14, 2007 Share #2 Â Posted June 14, 2007 I'm in Europe, and I waited some 12 weeks for a turnaround at Solms. They were kind enough to send a spare battery to compensate for the inconvenience. I rather suspect that there was a worldwide shortage of replacement sensors due to the high failure rates, and it has taken some time for manufacture to keep up with demand. stuny Posted June 14, 2007 Share #3 Â Posted June 14, 2007 I dropped it off at Leica USA around the New year. They told me it would be 5 to 6 weeks. I had it back in the middle of the 5th week.

albert Posted June 14, 2007 Share #6 Â Posted June 14, 2007 Is there a subtle problem or is it a major problem that I would know about ? I think my D2 is operating O.K.
gverdon Posted June 14, 2007 Share #7  Posted June 14, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Albert, if you consider the D2's sensor a major component then you may have a subtle problem. ;-)  Gérald
jgladwell Posted June 14, 2007 Share #8 Â Posted June 14, 2007 Nine weeks, and it came back with the black rubber on the body discolored. Â Jay
dugby Posted June 14, 2007 Share #9 Â Posted June 14, 2007 8 weeks for the 25,000km Australia-Solms-Australia journey. Â My D2 came back with a slight white powdery deposit on the rubber below the Red Dot. Â I've seen this before with the solvent/residue of some glues. On the D2, this may have been applied to re-stick the rubber onto the body. Â This often happens when the glue has not completely set and excess solvent has not had a real chance to vaporise away from the object being glued....(ie when the object is stuck into a plastic bag). Â Fortunately the residue on my D2 cleaned up ok.

Hey.... I was extremely thankful to Leica that they extended this new warranty to beyond their Original D2 Product Warranty.  My D2 was very much "outside" of the written warranty........so this was enough of a gift to me.  Would you really feel that good holding your free battery and Leica had gone into Liquidation over the recent M8 and D2 issues?  Please don't pressure Leica into any more freebies......we all want the company to get through these two major delimas, at the least expense to them. Don't you want to buy a D4 or M9......in the future?

nemo12 Posted June 15, 2007 Share #17  Posted June 15, 2007 Christopher, did you send it to Nidau? Gérald  actually i bought the d2 second-hand in april 07 in a photo-shop after I selled mine 2 years ago (i then thought, a dslr would serve me better; it didn't and so i bought another d2 and sold the dslr ...).  The shop had 3 months garanty. After two days during a trip to zagreb the d2 showed first signs of malfunction. I brought it back to the shop and they sent it to nidau. they made the repair there, it took them two weeks. That's what i call a fine customer service!

chrisbo Posted June 20, 2007 Share #20 Â Posted June 20, 2007 My Digilux II went to New Jersey, USA about 7 weeks ago. I received word two weeks ago that it had a failed sensor and the repairs would be covered by warranty. I paid for the shipping and insurance to New Jersey. My camera was within the warranty period and had been very pampered and lightly used. Â Leica's handling of the repairs is the only reason I am considering purchasing a Digilux III.
