*I get the feeling my fuji is in danger bec there's a chance i'll get hooked by leica and ill end up with a m9 or m240 to partner with the Q by next year...

I think the price of M is not too bad if you buy used, and do not look for the most expensive lenses right away.

This year, I got an M9 (ok, no M240, but still very nice) and three nice compact lenses (Zeiss 21/28, 35/2.8 and Leica 75/2.5) for about the price of a new Q. All used, in same shape as new, or new. So, choose what suits you best based on your photography style, and enjoy Japan!  :)

I had the M9, recently rented an M240 for the week, and have a Q. The Q files are far superior -- it is the SL with a fixed lens. Now, if you really want to be able to switch out focal lengths and the SL is beyond what you want to spend (understandable), then the M will be more than fine. I just believe the Q is better as long as you don't mind being constrained to 28mm

If you are looking for only one focal length, the Q is really hard to beat. Fantastic handling, great autofocus, great manual focus, great evf, great files. Comparing files from the Q with the M and a 24 elmar I see very little difference, and the Q is stronger in low light.

The M will give you an optical viewfinder, which is nicer in many ways, but it can be hard to see the framelines at 28 mm. It is also bulkier and heavier than the Q. Multiple lenses and manual controls are for the M (or even better the M-D), but you can always add that later when you are ready to sell the Fuji and SLR stuff.

I had the M with 24mm and loved it, bought the Q and loved it too.

Images were superb!

But after a few months I decided to sell the Q for very different reason.

When I walk around in a city, I constantly look thru my finder and in 90%

of the cases, I do not take a picture.

With the M, I can always do that without switching on the camera,

with the Q I first have to switch on the cam, before I see anything.

May be a silly and very personal reason, but for me enough to go on with the M and sell the Q.

The fact that I can switch lenses with the M does not really count, since I usually work

with a 35mm or 24MM.

I have both and usually use them separately. Q is fantastic and great for vacations etc. The M is for more serious photographic ventures.. plus I have different focals with Q at 28 and M at 35+50, so also depends on what focal I'll want/need.

No intentions to sell either one..
