dancook Posted October 19, 2016 Share #3 Posted October 19, 2016 Leica q releases for £2900, a year later they give it a different paint job and want £3800
dadohead Posted October 19, 2016 Share #4 Posted October 19, 2016 Leica q releases for £2900, a year later they give it a different paint job and want £3800 Yeah, you must have missed the part where the pound tanked and took the Euro with it. It's nearly the same price in the US.
earleygallery Posted October 19, 2016 Share #5 Posted October 19, 2016 Expect a glut of used Q's on the market shortly as current users 'trade up'

viramati Posted October 19, 2016 Share #7 Posted October 19, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Yeah, you must have missed the part where the pound tanked and took the Euro with it. It's nearly the same price in the US. But £570 more than the standard version. Leica have never been ones to hang around when exchange rates change
steveBK Posted October 19, 2016 Share #8 Posted October 19, 2016 Q in more focal lengths? New M? New T? New X-Vario? Nope. How about an Instax camera, Q in a new color, and re-edition of a 60 year old, slow lens!
Goonz Posted October 19, 2016 Share #9 Posted October 19, 2016 I like it
likealot Posted October 19, 2016 Share #10 Posted October 19, 2016 Yeah, you must have missed the part where the pound tanked and took the Euro with it. It's nearly the same price in the US. You seem to have missed the part that the Q's price was already increassed from 2900 to 3230 following the weakening of the pound. And the Euro has weakened as well so a huge price increasse makes no sense. £570 more for a different paintjob and a new strap is daylight robbery. But then again, I'm sure Leica wont struggle selling them.
likealot Posted October 19, 2016 Share #11 Posted October 19, 2016 Q in more focal lengths? New M? New T? New X-Vario? Nope. How about an Instax camera, Q in a new color, and re-edition of a 60 year old, slow lens! That's innovation! Well, at least that's what Leica calls it... faxao Posted October 19, 2016 Share #12 Posted October 19, 2016 I'd rather buy (again) the traditional black one
Kimiimacman Posted October 19, 2016 Share #13 Posted October 19, 2016 Strictly speaking it's not a paint job but anodised so the price difference is uncalled for as I suspect the cost to Leica is the same. I'm in the high end audio business and many products come in multiple anodised colours at not extra cost. If titanium costs that so should black thus increasing the value of mine should I ever decide to let it go:-))
likealot Posted October 19, 2016 Share #14 Posted October 19, 2016 I'm in the high end audio business Slighty off topic but...You don't happen to sell (soon) one of those lovely Naim Uniti Atom streamers do you?

Mr.Q Posted October 20, 2016 Share #16 Posted October 20, 2016 For £570 I'd tackle the paintjob myself.
jaapv Posted October 20, 2016 Share #17 Posted October 20, 2016 Certainly underwhelmed. Until now Titanium models have been (vacuum coated ?) metallic Titanium finished. Now it is just paint?
Kimiimacman Posted October 20, 2016 Share #18 Posted October 20, 2016 Certainly underwhelmed. Until now Titanium models have been (vacuum coated ?) metallic Titanium finished. Now it is just paint? Really?I have no previous experience with Leica so I assume the Ms are all painted rather than anodised which is far more durable. The Q appears anodised to me so assumed the titanium would be to, if not then one pays more for an inferior finish. Hmm
Kimiimacman Posted October 20, 2016 Share #19 Posted October 20, 2016 Slighty off topic but...You don't happen to sell (soon) one of those lovely Naim Uniti Atom streamers do you? Hi likealot, first product to ship will be the Atom in November followed shortly after by the Core in December. No actual dates as yet. Saw the range at a trade event last week, utterly stunning. Reminds me of when I first held the Q; which nicely bring things back on topic Kimi

The Q appears anodised to me so assumed the titanium would be to, if not then one pays more for an inferior finish. Hmm Leicas come in several tastes. The classic finishes are bright matte chrome, black matte chrome and soft black paint. Modern digital M cameras come in one of the chromes or durable (more or less) black coating, some in grey. Worn down to brass soft paint is highly desirable, worn to brass coating is acceptable according to taste. Special editions come in Titanium, Titanium metalized, Gold plated, solid Stainless steel, white coating, khaki coating, fake brassed paint, whatever. My personal preference will always be the classic bright matte chrome.
