Love this one, and also glad to see you back 👍

Do you shoot the Portra at boxspeed?

When it’s gloomy, I shoot at box speed to catch the dark moods.
When it’s overcast, I shoot at box speed to avoid white skies.
When it’s sunny, I shoot 400 around 120. 200 if I need a faster shutter.

Welcome back Steven, I missed you and your contributions to the conversation 🙂

You’re back and shooting the 28 Summaron! What are your thoughts this time around with this lens? These shots with it look great.

Hello again Steven,

I have seen on your Instagram that you are also using Portra 800 (which I want to try next) - do you expose this in the same way (just one stop faster in sunny light)? Or do you handle this one differently?

Thank you, Alexander

When I load Portra, it's usually because I need speed. Either because of low light, or because I want to shoot street at F8 and fast shutter speeds. So I generally expose rate it between 400 and 800. That being said......

This photo was accidentally rate at +3 stops. I loaded a roll of 800 in cuba, thinking it was 160, and rating it at 100. That day, I understood that when Portra is highly over exposed, it can be treated as Auto ISO!

I could load a roll of Portra 800, shoot it at 100 for shallow depth of field, 200 for general use, 400 for daylight street photography, 800 indoors, and 1600 at night. I'll be fine with all the results. Not saying it looks the same at 100 and 1600, just that I like all of its looks. It's a versatile stock.

Photo shot with a Lux 28.

Your pictures are really stunning, and you also go to places (Yemen, a war zone) that tourists usually wouldn't. Are you a photojournalist? Where can I find out more about you?

Indeed. Welcome back to the forum Steven. Nice composition.

Interesting it seems you are recently more focused on film and less on SL system or am I wrong? Another difference is use of lenses at F8-F11. If I remember right you were using Lux 28 mostly at F1.4 in the past, not to mention your move from 35mm lenses to 28mm Summaron.

Congratulations! Nice move. Results are great.

I like that you took your highly collectable MP3 to the "gang neighbourhoods". 👍

No gang neighbourhoods or dangerous slums here but I was trying out a Portra 400 film "preset"😮 for ACR on some M 240 files from last summer and I was pleasantly surprised. (The preset also works quite effectively with Hasselblad .3FR files.)
