jdlaing Posted October 5, 2016 Share #2 Â Posted October 5, 2016 Evidently it got too warm. Perhaps sitting in the sun? It happens from time to time.
microview Posted October 5, 2016 Share #3 Â Posted October 5, 2016 I wanted to sell a 90mm Summicron APO but two dealers rejected it on account of spots on the rear element. Turns out these were oil contaminations from the aperture blades (now sorted, thankfully).

earleygallery Posted October 6, 2016 Share #5 Â Posted October 6, 2016 Store with with the aperture fully open and it may clear the oil. Â Nothing to worry about if it's not excessive (excessive oil could get onto the optics directly or indirectly). It can be a problem with SLR lenses as the oil will dampen the action of the aperture closing/opening as you take a shot, but that's not an issue with M lenses. If there is a lot of oil it can gas off and fog the elements. A CLA may be in order.
