Thanks everyone- yes the Vivitar lens is really good- and a perfect match to the m240 with liveview. I have a Fuji XT-1 with the 60mm macro lens- and I found that much harder to get good results with than the leica- despite the auto focus, etc. It is a bit of a challenge taking photos when you are wearing a full bee suit and leather gloves- the manual nature of the Leica is a real benifit in this situation as it simplifies everything- it's hard to think about your camera settings when 25,000 bees are all around you... The vivitar lens works so much better than using macro rings- or bellows on the leica for handheld use. The lens has excellent markings for reproduction ratios and DOF- and a long smooth focus throw. It is quite similar to the Leica 65mm macro lens for visoflex- but is faster at f2.8. If I was looking to do some macro work with an M240 I can heartily recommend going onto to ebay to find one of these Vivitar lenses. Another point is- despite the relative crudity of the Leica M240 EVF- it works perfectly well for manual focusing even with these very shallow DOF's.
