Paulus Posted September 19, 2016 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) I read on the Leica site, that the new titan version of the 28summicron and 50 summicron asph, that they are made out of aluminium with an " eloxiertes " titanium layer. I thought in the former lenses, of the M6 titan and the M 6 TTL titan were made of brass + titanium eloxierung. Anyone has an idea why the changed to aluminium? Michael Geschlecht Posted September 20, 2016 Share #5 Posted September 20, 2016 Hello Everybody, "Eloxiert" is German for "anodized". Anodizing is a process for black coating aluminium lenses which has been used by Leitz/Leica for over 50 years. Best Regards, Michael
jdlaing Posted September 20, 2016 Share #6 Posted September 20, 2016 First, there is no "Titan" Leica cameras. There are Titanium models, I believe. Secondly, titanium is plating and not anodizing.
Paulus Posted September 20, 2016 Author Share #7 Posted September 20, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Less weight? Would be possible, but why didn't they make the first ones like the black, less weight, but with brass lenses. I thought it had something to do with the process of "titanisierung" that it wasn't possible with aluminium, or has something changed? ( or was this with chrome ?) .
