Advertisement Posted July 28, 2016 Posted July 28, 2016 Hi Leon_B., Take a look here Leica SL Tethered Shooting: Leica Image Shuttle & Lightroom Plug-In. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wlaidlaw Posted July 28, 2016 Share #2 Posted July 28, 2016 I wonder if anyone makes a curly (like an old telephone handset cable) USB 3 cable of a stretched length of say 2 to 3 metres. This would be ideal for using tethered. I use these for long flash cables and somehow they seem to be much more manageable than long non-curly cables. However, I am guessing that Leica's USB3 socket in the camera is proprietary and nobody is going to be able to make one. Wilson PS I thought I had found one but it was only USB 2 to Micro B
PowerClean Posted July 28, 2016 Share #3 Posted July 28, 2016 When I log into the Leica Owner's Area, I see the download for the SL 2.1 update. However, Leica Image Shuttle 3.4 and Lightroom Tethered Plug-in 1.1 do not appear available. I only see the previous versions (3.3 and 1.0 respectively) of those two software downloads. Not working for me either. I did get the Firmware from the seperate download page but when in the Owner's Area the downloads showing for me are Image Shuttle 3.3 and Lightroom Plug-in 1.1 neither of which will download. I'll give it a day and try again.
PowerClean Posted July 28, 2016 Share #6 Posted July 28, 2016 There appears to be an inconsistency or mismatch with the software download labeling on the Leica Owner's Area site. For example, on the Leica Image Shuttle download page, there are links to download software versions 2.2 and 3.3. When I click the link to download version 3.3, the download file is named "Leica_Image_Shuttle_v340.dmg". Therefore, the software is there and available to download. It is just mislabeled on the download page. That is what confused me.

I have several 6/10m active USB 3 cables which can be joined to make one long cable ..... but they are non-functional on my iMac with the SL ..... although I have occasionally got a single one to work but it defaults to USB 2 and provides a flaky connection. Even with supplementary power there is no joy. No idea if it is the SL, Software or a USB bus/power issue with the iMac. Limits of just a few metres seem to restrict the usefulness and don't add a lot more functionality over the remote app of LR plugin.

walvis Posted July 28, 2016 Share #10 Posted July 28, 2016 LIS and LR plugin work well under OS X - however, has anyone figured out how to select a focus point or field in app (i.e. mirroring the function of the joy stick) or will it always just focus on the absolute center? First time using LIS at all, so please excuse this in case it is a dumb question.

Bobitybob Posted July 28, 2016 Share #12 Posted July 28, 2016 Have you registered your SL on the Leica User's Area? Yep, via the Leica Store and entered by me in the Owner's Area. When I select the download it goes to another page with only the top banner and log out text showing. Might be the Mac I am using as it's running the Public Beta of MacOs. I'll try tomorrow with my Macbook and see if that makes a difference.

After I log into the Owner's Area, several choices are given including Leica Image Shuttle and Lightroom Tethered Plugin. Clicking on either of those results in nothing being downloaded (for both Safari and Firefox). Choosing Firmware Update 2.1 works, however. It seems strange that it's succeeding for some people and not others. dgktkr

Try https://owners.leica-camera.com/products/download/xxxx (the link for downloading firmware 2.1) instead of https://owners.leica-camera.com/index.php/products/remotesoftwaredownload/xxx. This worked for me. You can check xxxx (think its 3204 & 3214) from the link for the respective software.
