war Posted July 4, 2016 Share #1  Posted July 4, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Espanola, Galapagos, Ecuador  These are the largest breeding birds on the Archipelago.  They pair for life and care equally for their single chick. They breed only on Espanola (Hood) Island.  This courtship behavior includes this bill clacking, a sort of gentle sword fight and the wide opening of the bill followed by a WHOO sound.  Their antics can keep a photographer occupied indefinitely.  Welcome, dear visitor! war Posted July 7, 2016 Author Share #3  Posted July 7, 2016 Excellent. During our visit teh albatros were at sea, but there is so much more to see as well. We did see albatros nesting in heh Falklands, though.Thank you Stuart. While they are extremely graceful in flight and soar beautifully for great distances at sea, they are uncomfortable on land and hilarious to watch. They run and flap and stumble over extremely long distances to get themselves airborne. When they return they crash land inelegantly usually taking several summersaults before coming to an abrupt stop. Fun.
