KG1962 Posted June 30, 2016 Share #1 Posted June 30, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi the dilemna is in the question, I shoot mainly street/general/family portraits/ family functions and a bit of landscape too. I love the look of the 240 in chrome such a gorgeous camera, and would buy the 50mm f2 and maybe the 90/2 and 35/2 later, but just wondering if its a bit extravagant to own both (as well as a A7RII) and maybe I should trade in the Q for the M plus lens(es) ....... any thoughts/views appreciated .... Advertisement Posted June 30, 2016 Posted June 30, 2016 Hi KG1962, Take a look here Love my Leica Q but should I get the M 240 with a 50mm ???. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
jaapv Posted June 30, 2016 Share #2 Posted June 30, 2016 Extravagant? Hmmm... Depends on your pay check...
microview Posted June 30, 2016 Share #3 Posted June 30, 2016 I would keep the Q, given its lens quality and its light weight. In the M range the 262 (with screen!) again is lighter than the 240, does away with unnecessary frills (slow EVF etc) and the experience with rangefinder nicely complements going out and about with the Q (fast, accurate focus). Having found a 50 Summicron APO at a cost saving over list price, I have 'rediscovered' the 50mm fov – which is what I'd always had with much earlier cameras. MarkP Posted June 30, 2016 Share #4 Posted June 30, 2016 I want a 24MP FF file for my 50mm lens which, despite all of it's other qualities, the Q does not offer.
Lax Jought Posted June 30, 2016 Share #5 Posted June 30, 2016 If I only had the M240 and I needed a 28m lens, I'd choose to buy the Q rather than buy the actual Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 lens. This way, I have a fast 28mm Leica lens (the Q) that I can use without needing to attach it to the M240 body. The Q is cheaper than the Summilux-M anyway, so that's a bonus.
