...M11-D can be better, but how about "happiness" ?......When cost is in the equation, you are the only one who knows......I bet that when possible, you will own M11-D.

I can only speak for myself (obviously) but even were I to win the Lottery I wouldn't choose to replace my M-D with either of the newer models. It's the absolute sheer basic nature of the M-D camera that gives me such pleasure in use and is (for me) of prime importance.

Just for fun and playing the game of "If I Won the Lottery" then I might consider adding an M Edition 60 / Steelux set but only on condition that it was sent back to The Mothership where the clever engineers back at base could add a pair of (stainless-steel & Audi-designed) strap-lugs. Now that would be a nice thing to have.

But, even then, I still wouldn't ditch the M-D......😸......

Welcome @bernstein1234 that is indeed a very minty example you have there. I have just hit 10,000 shots on my M-D and despite obsessively babying it there are a couple of tiny spots of brassing emerging since I bought it in similarly mint condition in 2021.

Having hit 10,000 I can confirm the M-D does indeed start again after L1009999.DNG with L1000001.DNG as the next image so I have started using the multi rename tool in Windows Commander to batch rename when I import to avoid duplicates, eg L1000001 to L1010001 etc

@pippy I am very glad that Leica have returned to form with the M11-D, and also for selfish reasons as it means there will be -D's available second hand with relatively low mileage in 2030 when I might need to replace my M-D ...

In the meantime I am currently into NOOFA (No Out Of Focus Areas) and my M-D paired with a new ZM 35mm Distagon f1.4 is giving amazingly sharp results at f5.6 and all the way up to f22 (no sign of diffraction) -- very satisfying to zoom into these images and keep finding detail. Not feeling the urge for more MP.

Plus, I have just come back from a week's holiday of shooting and my battery is at 75% ... 😁

Hi Datsch.

Could you explain - in layman's terms - how you manage to do this?

I hadn't previously heard of Total Commander and have downloaded what I think is the tool you mention but I haven't a clue as to how it works!

Is this screenshot showing the same programme you are using?

I would be very interested in knowing how to rename files (such as replacing 'L100XXXX' with 'MD L101XXXX') as I have identically numbered files from FOUR Leica digi-M bodies; my old and long gone M8.2 & M9-P and my current M Monochrom as well as the M-D.

Any help you might be able to offer would be greatly appreciated!

Philip.

Yes sorry, you are right it is Total Commander and you would navigate to the folder with your DNG files in and select multi rename tool from the File menu

A few ways to do this, it is quite powerful, but I have been just putting L100 in the find box and L101 in the replace box. You will see two columns of file names the left one is as now and the right column shows how the file names will be transformed. Once you are happy then press Start and Bob is your proverbial.

I have been using total commander or a similar two pane file manager since the nineties so don’t hesitate to ask if you have any further questions

That description text from KEH is new to me and has some rather fun turns of phrase. I “eschew distraction” and focus solely on the moment too… 😄

This MD 262 was also purchased from KEH.

The condition advertised was mint-…!

Hi, I got one from Arte Di Mano. Slightly on the expensive side but the quality is top notch and the paint job matches the camera (which is top of my priority 😝)
