Arif Posted June 28, 2016 Share #42 Posted June 28, 2016 Hi Neil, At least the exchange rate is in your favour so seems like a good deal. Plus we will all miss your daily comments if you move over to Hasselblad.

Daedalus2000 Posted June 28, 2016 Share #44 Posted June 28, 2016 New message from Leica You know about my issues with the 006, well I've been talking with Hasselblad and they can give me a H6D 50 back with one lens for 17500 pounds When I arrived in Scotland yesterday Leica contacted me and offered me a trade in with my 006 for a 007 Body + Pro Charger + Spare Battery + S Protection Plan All for 6050 pounds. For me to give up on the S altogether I would loose money on the S lenses as well and have to buy a bunch of new lenses for the H6D......... So I am leaning back to the S007 as not only it's a bunch cheaper but the H6D might be a better option A few years down the road........ And at the end of the day the 007 takes amazing pictures and the Leica glass is amazing ( after the AF motor gets changed out) and it's a proven weather sealed camera. Am I thinking logical or as usual messed up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Did they say £6050 all in, or £6050 + vat?

tom0511 Posted June 28, 2016 Share #46 Posted June 28, 2016 Neil, to me it sounds that you maybe should first make up your mind which system you like to use and then decide. In my case I stayed in the S system and I am quite happy with it. For my taste and use the Hassy seems to big, and I also dont need more than the MP of the S007. For me the handling, weather sealing, comparable user interface between S and SL, and the lenses fit my bill. But your needs might be different and I wouldnt decided just based on saving/spending some money more / less. Do you want more MP now? Which sensor ratio you prefer? Do you need weather sealing? Do you prefer Hassy or Leica lenses? Do you want to get used to a new system?
EoinC Posted June 28, 2016 Share #47 Posted June 28, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) GAS can still affect you at 40k', Neil. The 'sensible' thing to do is to look at the differences between the S-006 and the S-007 (ISO range, Live View etc), and determine how much it's worth to have them (Taking the crappy camera coating out of the equation, as it appears to be random in occurrence). If the trade-in delta is less than that, grab it. If not, hold off until something else tickles your fancy. If you go down the Hasselblad path, that S is going to spend a lot more time living in its dry cabinet... Enjoy your holiday, Bro'.
Jeff S Posted June 28, 2016 Share #48 Posted June 28, 2016 To start, forget about price. Make a list of your goals, pros and cons, for your pictures and prints (and secondarily with your gear). Then don't do anything before you actually demo each option (not a day in the shop....extended use) to see if reality matches your needs/preferences. Once that's all done, then determine if any changes are necessary....and prioritize. If so, research the best deal and determine if cost is acceptable given the required changes. This could take many months...or years....if done in a disciplined and thoughtful manner. Meanwhile, what have you got to lose? (see list of pros/cons). Unless GAS is fun and sufficient, then best to avoid cart before horse....or reading versus reality. Don't ask me about the odds of your actually doing this. Am I thinking logical or as usual messed up Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Sounds like a good deal to me. I can only say I am a very happy S007 user. The 007 is faster, more responsive, higher ISO version of a camera that in my opinion has perfect ergonomics and is very versatile in the sense that its usage envelope is like a DSLR - landscape, wedding, portrait.... I print 50*70cm and compare with other MF cameras, the 37,5 mpix of the Leica S renders beautifully. I have had my share of minor problems (2 lenses need AF repair), but that does not destroy the quality of the overall system. I just got the S/SL adapter to use my SL as a backup/second camera, focus works quite well, the 70 is very fast, the 120 may hunt a little. It is easy to get vertigo from new releases - don't forget that even the new H will probably be obsoleted by upgrades in a year or so, so this is a never-ending problem. hoppyman Posted June 29, 2016 Share #53 Posted June 29, 2016 Neil, regarding residual value, tradeinability and newer technology, have you thought on what is possible after October? That is entirely speculation of course. Regarding the S (Typ 007)' mine continues to be flawless as are my two lenses now 7000 exposures in for body and 22000 for lenses and I do regard it as a worthwhile upgrade from my S2. mwilliamsphotography Posted June 30, 2016 Share #54 Posted June 30, 2016 I feel for ya. I went through all the head pounding agony of trade-ups and accounting between Hasselblad and Leica. I went from a bullet proof Hasselblad H system to a Leica S2P which presented one head-ache after another. But, God I love those S files! When Leica ran the close out of the S(006) I upgraded by selling the S2P privately and ultimately paying a difference of $3,700 … which was almost worth it just for the 3 year (006) warranty. Not interested in a (007) since I don't need higher ISO, Video, nor more cash out of my pocket, and I like to stick with the knowns of a CCD that I'm sure of compared to a CMOS I'm not. I plan to get my money's worth by using the (006) until my needs drastically change … at which time the only camera that has my attention is the Hasselblad X1D MFD Mirror-less just announced. The Hasselblad H6 is an amazing camera, 1/2000 sync less now, and True Focus is a definite advantage over the S camera. However, if there is anything that will move me off the S it is a smaller camera with a bigger sensor, not a bigger one with that bigger sensor. Good luck with the decision. - Marc
