Guest Posted November 16, 2016 Share #681 Posted November 16, 2016 Advertisement (gone after registration) Peter I downloaded the X1D user manual yesterday..............I like what I read Ffords in Inverness is going to give me a demo model over christmas to play with and to see if the EVF is acceptable :) Could be a nice wee christmas pressie Lucky you. I look forward to the 'report' after Christmas. I also looked at the manual and liked what I saw too, one of the clearest manuals I have seen in a long time. wellfleet Posted November 17, 2016 Share #682 Posted November 17, 2016 FYI, from Ming Thein's blog on Nov.14 re: new firmware 1.13b - https://blog.mingthein.com/2016/10/08/hasselblad-x1d-on-location-modern-heritage-mini-movie-and-status-update/#more-13709 "No problem. I just received a new firmware which has significantly increased speed and added movable AF points, so the finished version will likely be even better still"

Joshua Lowe Posted November 17, 2016 Share #684 Posted November 17, 2016 Does the X1D use the same EVF as the Q? I recall having read that somewhere but I could be mistaken.

Keep in mind that Ming is an official Hasselblad 'Ambassador', a.k.a. optimist. Jeff
IkarusJohn Posted November 18, 2016 Share #688 Posted November 18, 2016 What was the EVF-2? The biggest issue for me is blackout, lag & refresh.
Jeff S Posted November 18, 2016 Share #689 Posted November 18, 2016 (edited) 1.4 MP Don't know about refresh other than to say it's not great. The VF 4 is 60hz, but I don't think the M could support that. Jeff Edited November 18, 2016 by Jeff S
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted November 18, 2016 Share #690 Posted November 18, 2016 Is the IVF something that can be upgraded with a firmwear upgrade
IkarusJohn Posted November 18, 2016 Share #691 Posted November 18, 2016 No Neil, I think that involves hardware (or a test tube).
Guest NEIL-D-WILLIAMS Posted November 18, 2016 Share #692 Posted November 18, 2016 No Neil, I think that involves hardware (or a test tube). My spell checker foaled me again Maybe have to bit the bullet and try first before buying

Peter H Posted November 18, 2016 Share #697 Posted November 18, 2016 That is the big big downside of the X1D. Gesendet von iPhone mit Tapatalk Pro Yes, it will be for some people. I used it for an afternoon in quite a range of indoor and outdoor conditions ( it was a bright sunny day so lots of contrast and so on) and I'd be quite happy with it. More of an issue for some will be the fact that unlike most EVFs that people are used to using, it is not wysiwyg, in other words it doesn't show the effects of exposure compensation for example, and you use a depth of field button like on a dslr. That can be an advantage or a disadvantage depending on how you're using the camera. Ideally I'd like the option of selecting between both modes. Is it a function of using leaf shutters, by the way? Peter Did you see that the lenses are already available at B%H. I talked with Alistair at Ffords in Inverness and he is going to give me a shot of a demo over Christmas, if the IVF isn't as bad as the naysayers say it is then I will get one............. If you remember my S007 sh!t itself just before I came back to Nigeria 10 days ago, well I just got an email from Leica in Singapore saying they now have my S007 and are getting ready to send it to Germany to get fixed WTFIWT........when I bitched to them that they have had it for 10 days already, they gave me some BS story about FedEx and something else...........unbelievable really. Hopefully Hasselblad CS is more switched on Neil
Peter H Posted November 18, 2016 Share #699 Posted November 18, 2016 Neil, I think you'll like it but we're all different so it'll be interesting to see how you get on with it. You'll let us know won't you? For me, it's a dream: a small simple-to-use camera that gives genuinely stunning results. Like a new M with AF in many ways except for the viewfinder. but that sensor is something else.
